The Stearns where the hotel was located is not the beet looking neighborhood, but convenient to the college and highways. I was rather disappointed with the condition of the beds in the room. Ended up in a room with 2 'full' size beds, which honestly aren't big enough for 2 normal size people, but the one bed was so uncomfortable we would have been […] better off sleeping on the floor. The breakfast purchased with the room rated was good, however we ended up sitting for over 10 minutes before anyone even came to take an order. My one complaint with this hotel was the restaurant/food availability. The book in the room said there was room service for dinner on Sunday evenings until 9:00, restaurant was open until 10:00 PM. Neither of those were true. The only option to get anything to eat at 7:30 on a Sunday night at the hotel was to go down to the lounge/bar and either eat […] there or take the food back to my room. Not necessarily a problem but then the information provided should be accurate. The next morning I called to see if the restaurant was open for breakfast, it was. We went in & sat down, only 2 other people there. After waiting for several minutes and not seeing anyone else enter the room I went back into the kitchen to find out if someone was waiting tables. They were in the back packing up a takeout order. It would have easily been another 5 minutes before she knew we were there if I hadn't gone looking based on how long it took her to come out. A pleasant surprise to stay in such a comfortable hotel.The only criticisms would be:location isolated,no out lets[eg eating places or pubs within walking distance;band in bar on Saturday night was horrendously loud as it is only a small room preventing us from having our usual nightcap.

Hotel Lobby was nice but that is about where it ended.There is no "River View" rather a view of some low income housing project, room was dingy, smoke detector, free wifi along with the outdoor pool were not working. Informed front desk about Smoke detector and wifi and they seemed to brush it off. No indication when the hotel was selected that the […] outdoor pool was already closed mid-August! We stayed the night after the tornado hit Elmira. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed but they were well intentioned. We had asked for a rollaway but they either forgot or it wasn't available. Booked reservation for 2 adults and 3 kids so one of my kids had to sleep on floor.

We chose this hotel because it was the only one in the area that provided free shuttle to the airport. The location is a bit of a problem though because there is NO place to walk to to get food outside of the hotel's restaurant. The food there was OK, but it's always nice to have choice. If you don't have a car and do not want to deal with a taxi, there […] is no choice. Let me also add that they only have one pair of washer/dryer and the dryer takes over an hour to dry the clothes. Someone got there before us and we ended up not washing our clothes. We were hoping to go home with clean clothes but that didn't happen. This hotel was easy to find, and convienient from almost all of the major roads in the area. The staff was friendly and proffesional. The room was very clean. The only thing I found not to my liking were the bed pillows. They had a choice of firm or soft pillows which was great, however the pillows were very small. The hotel has recently been refurbished. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms were impeccably clean. Recommend that request be made for rooms on the back side of the hotel -- the front is on Water Street and traffic noise is annoying.

Good, clean room. Heater makes an odd sound when turned on too high. Wish it had a complementary breakfast station, but other than that...good place to stay.

great job, nice hotel, staff was very friendly, they arranged a pickup at the airport even though my flight landed around 10 pm, they had no shuttle service so they paid for a taxi to pick us up. I would stay there again for sure.

I drove my son to Cornell University but all the hotels in the Ithaca area were booked. The Holiday Inn in Elmira had a vacancy and it exceeded my expectations. It was located approximately 30 miles from Cornell but it was a very pleasant drive on Route 13 so it was no big deal. The nightly rates were very reasonable. The lobby was being remodeled but it was neat and clean. I left my shoes in the room and only discovered this when I unpacked at home. I called immediately and was pleased to learn that housekeeping had brought them to the front desk and they held on to them until my son who lives nearby was able to retrieve them. Thank you

Everything was fine until the morning of my second day when I was awoke by a construction crew jackhammering in the parking lot right outside my window for an hour between 8 and 9am. The front desk staff apologized and asked if I wanted to move to another room. Ridiculous! Who schedules for a construction crew to start work like that at 8am? I was very nervous about staying here because of some bad reviews, but we were very pleased. We loved the hotel resturant. Very resonable prices. Kids under 12 eat free... We also liked our new room. The staff was very friendly. We'd stay there again...

The staff at the front desk were very helpful,however the lobby was a dusty noisy mess. Unfortunately renovations are filled by such things.Our room was clean & comfortable but exterior noses such as in the hallway & through the walls was evident but not overtly annoying. Great staff but your hotel needs updating!

Room was clean and well-equipped. Hotel restaurant is suitable and convenient. One drawback is the hotel layout which can lead to a long walk from the lobby to your room. People warned me that the hotel was not in a nice area but I did not find that to be the case. I would stay here again.

Rooms were clean, hallways fine. Restaurant - eh. Staff helpful. Odd neighborhood, not much nearby (certainly not within walking distance) in terms of food or other stores. In our first floor room, felt it was a little noisy, but nothing that really kept us up. If you're just using this to crash for the night, it's great - perfect! All in all, the motel was fine. I feel it was overpriced. We stayed in other hotels during our travel that were by far, nicer than this one and paid about the same price. I just feel because of the location and quality of the Hotel, it was too much money. To me, this would rate as maybe a 2-1/2 stars hotel.
