Located near mass transit and very central. Room was small but not too. Shower was very difficult to stand in given narrow footwell. Overall, a decent hotel for the price.

Staff was very accomodating as I had flown all night from the States and they let me check in at 9:30AM. Very courteous.

Great location, easy access through U line from airport and to go around the city. Also easy access to tram lines. All the major attractions are within walking distance. Rooms and bathroom are good size. The only thing I was not happy about when the cleaning person did not clean the commode, but when asked the front desk, they sent some one right away […] to take care of it. Room was old and cramped. Location was fine (difficult not to be in a compact city like Vienna..). Clean enough, quiet enough but really not worth the price...

One of the best hotels in Vienna. I have stayed here in 2 of my 3 visits in the last 4 years. Magnificent old building in a great location close to the university and U2 station right outside the door. Polite and efficient room service. All problems/questions taken care of with a brief phone call. The rooms have a early 20th century look. I wish the […] furniture was updated. The biggest problem is that the hotel is not ready for the 21st century. The TV is old with a picture tube. The internet is slow: 128kbps. There is no wifi in the rooms. You have to hook up your laptop with a small Ethernet cable. Make sure to bring your own if you want to sit on the bed and work/surf, etc. There is no A/C. The heating control does not work well. Our stay at Hotel France was all too brief, but very comfortable and the hotel is well situated in the city centre close to underground station. This is a traditional Viennese hotel with excellent service in a good central location on the Ring. We stayed for a mix of business for me and leisure for my wife. We both found the proximity to the nearest U-bahn station (50m) to be great. It was also a pleasant 10 minute walk to the heart of Vienna at Stephansdom Platz. Prior to booking the Hotel I was a bit concerned about many opinions I read on Tripadvisor...and also about the quality of the staff...maybe I went to a different hotel!! The room (double standard) was very spacious, high ceilings, good wardrobe, free internet (not as fast, but I had the same problem with the same provider -Swisscom- in a hotel in Milan), […] the only down was the TV which was a small old style one...apart from that, everything was impeccable...and what to say about the view to the Schottenring boulevard! Regarding the staff, I can only think that you can be mistreated by any European citizen if you happen to have an intrusive way of behavior or you don't do the least effort to be nice to people...all I received around Vienna were smiles and extremely educated people...maybe the complaining guests are the uneducated ones (but they don't happen to know or realize that they are the rude ones)...can happen...and they are the same that regularly complain about the staff all around Europe (they get treated as they unconsciously treat the others)... Really nice hotel, Very central. I would definitely recommend it. The concierge even organised a car to the airport it was a great service and cheaper than a taxi. The only issue for me was quality of wifi it constantly dropped.

Teach some of the staff to smile. Most do and are a joy but a couple looked as if we were disturbing their day. Suite was lovely but how I hate a double bed made of two mattresses so you end up finding in the night you have got a limb in the gap And for a 5* hotel the tv selection was poor. Our room was tiny and looked like a Motel 6 accommodation. The hotel needs to upgrade its heating and air conditioning system. It was very hot in our room and we needed to open a window in order to sleep. The staff also needs some training in dealing with guests. My wife was barked at by the maitre d' in the breakfast room when she had the nerve to […] ask where the hot milk was. Location was perfect close to everything. Metro, trams,tour buses main attractions. Lots of space in the room nice bathroom. Bed and pillows were too soft for my taste. Breakfast was very good service was great too. Nothing wrong with this hotel.

Breakfast buffet was good. Sheets and towels very hard and rough. Little to no hot water or water pressure. Expensive pay TV. Fire alarm sounds for no reason. View of heating and air conditioning so bad the window was painted. No compensation for lack of amenities.

Other than being put into the wrong level of room on the first night which wasn't great the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfasts were FANTASTIC and kept us going all day. Very grown up hotel within easy distance of the center of Vienna on foot. Beautifully kept and very comfortable. Nice hotel, but room was on front facing street - so a bit noisy and the bright lights of the building lit up the room even when curtain was drawn. The Hotel was excellent on entry but the bedroom that we had was very clean and comfortable but the decor was uninspiring. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive. The position of the hotel was perfect being within 5 minutes walk to the Rathaus and the Hofburg and a few more minutes right into the centre with excellent restaurant, tram […] and U Bahn services on the doorstep. Our room was surprisingly large for a European hotel, well-equipped and very clean. The hotel is very well placed with regard to main city attractions. As walkers, we were able to visit a large number of sites on foot. One of the main tram terminuses is just outside the hotel and at 2 euros a ticket is a cheap way of travelling to the outer limits of the city. We ate out most of the time but the breakfast which was included in our stay was first class with a huge choice of either continental or English style food. Everyone we encountered was helpful and friendly. Our German is very Limited, but English was no problem. The breakfast buffet was an excellent way to start a day of exploring. The rooms were well appointed with hair dryer, robes and even a scale in the bathroom. I would defiantly go back.

It was very good , nice old palace, fully modernised in rooms, nice breakfast, room actually a mini-suite with two bathrooms, . only strange thing is that one cannot control heating - the central control was fine, but this was because we had good ( not too cold weather)

Hotel is on the ring but still quite a distance to walk to most of the atraction sights. Building is old but inside looks very elegant. They provided very nice breakfast. Excellent condition, great location, great staff. Excellent breakfast - included in room rate. One disappointing experience: we had booked and confirmed a taxi (mini-van) to airport (4:30 AM) through this hotel @ 44 Euro. Instead, at the last minute, they brought a van, and asked us to pay a higher rate for the van (60 Euros). That was not right.
