The hotel needs renovation, not worth the price of the rooms. Very old and smells musty. The check-in process was extremely slow, long lines. The spa rooms were dirty. There was hair on the floors and clumps of hair in the showers. Sauna room did not work in the women's locker rooms. Overall, a disappointing hotel.

We had researched the hotel and its history and were very much looking forward to the experience of real elegance and careful attention to detail. Instead we got a room of no particular charm (lower floor, no view) whose bathroom showed cracked, peeling paint and rusty door hinges due to the lack of ventilation in the room. This is classic "old luxury". Great value but not our taste at all. Glad we went but wont be back.

The staff help to make this huge hotel function smoothly. They are professional and it makes staying here more pleasant than it would be for this size hotel. The restaurants are exorbitant as is the minibar so I would definitely recommend eating meals at some of the excellent restaurants in the surrounding area. I personally prefer staying further uptown […] or down to be in a more interesting neighborhood. There is quite a bit of street noise...bring your earplugs and stay on an upper floor! Everything good except called housekeeping at 11:30 pm on Saturday nite - asked for 3 towels to be sent up - never happened! Room was not freshened early evening, although I did not specifically request it. That is why I needed fresh towels! Expected better from your hotel.

Elegant hotel with gracious service. Easy walk to Museum of Modern Art, Grand Central Terminal, Time Square and also major subway lines. Clean and very comfortable.

We had just had a long day moving our daughter into An apt. Nearby. We were exhausted. I requested an upper floor. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and QUIET! They took very good care of us and we plan to stay their again when we visit our daughter.

We stayed with you for the first time. (We have always stayed at the Barclay Intercontinental.) We enjoyed the experience, but felt that the pricing of your food serive (tea and toast for $32, breakfast buffet at $44) was opportunistic/excessive, and we won't be staying with you again.

Great stay. Only bad review was the night time bartender. Very inattentive and slow. Hotel could use some updating but other than that I thought it was nice.

For a bit more money, you can stay in a lovely, storied hotel conveniently situated near Grand Central Station. Pleasant staff, nice ammenities.

Check in took forever. We still don't understand why but we had to wait for almost 45 minutes to check in and there was only a handful of people in front of us. Also, for overnight parking we were told to call about thirty minutes in advance to get our car so we naturally expected it to be ready by the time we went outside to Lexington. Overall my stay was good. I booked this as a family vacation with my girlfriend and my parents. We had beautiful adjoining rooms. We were very happy with our room. My parents had a beautiful room, but their air conditioner was not working up to its best. It was extremely hot for early June (mid to high 90's) and they did call maintenance. Their room […] hovered around 73-75 most of the time. The explaination they got from maintenance was it is just too hot out, yet my room was able to get down lower. Around 5 PM on the 2nd day they complained again and were offered a new room, but declined since we were heading out and leaving early the next morning. The hotel is managed beautifully.... She is still the "Queen of New York" .... None of the "Vegas Glitz" , ( Hello, Donald Trump) .... It was elegant and a wonderful experience for my B-Day week .... Special thanks to the management for going out of their way to make this memorable and a real vacation... Cheers !!!

This hotel is a must-stay as part of the New York experience. The decor from lobby to room, appointments and room comfort were exceptional. Staff friendliness and assistance were high quality with pleasant attitude. We did not dine at the hotel so cannot comment on the dining experience. Besides, there are so many excellent restaurants in NYC and not […] enough meals! Location is 2 blocks from 5th Ave shopping, 2 blocks from the 53rd St-Lexington subway station that connected us to all corners of the city. We have one awareness caution for potential guests: We were not aware of the stipulated dress codes from ellegant business to dressy casual throughout the hotel amenities. Lucked out and was able to score a great deal on a room here for one night. The location and decor was incredible and it was an amazing experience. All the materials throughout the building were more than top-notch and it was fun to live in the lap of luxury for a night!

The hotel was everything I'd hoped for!. Perfectly located close to everything! The conceirge was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very elegant, down to the uniforms the maids wore!! The beds were extremely comfortable as well! Would highly recommend this hotel> It's more than a hotel, It's an experience!!

This was an excellent place to stay. Tons of history at this hotel, beautiful architecture, excellent service, food, etc. Walking distance to Times Square or grab a cab/bike taxi. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I had spent almost all day in traffic getting here, so I'm sure I looked pretty bedraggled. But the sweet lady at the front desk didn't bat an eye and was easygoing. The room and hallway was quiet, the bed and bathroom were divine, and I slept like a baby. I look forward to going back!

Our stay at the Waldorf was excellent. My only complaint is that the water in the minibar was not sealed and past the due date. Other than that the place is beautiful although the rooms could stand an update. The restaurants, buffet, Bar, and other amenities were excellent as was the staff. Although the staff was extremely courteous, there were long lines for the reception, even at our Hilton Honors desk. We could not check in until 4:00, an hour after the 3:00 check in time posted. We missed our 4:30 9/ll Memorial tour scheduled for our arrival day. We have stayed here in the past, but this time we had some issues.

The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located but the service was terrible. Upon check in our room wasn't ready which wasn't a big deal so we asked to leave our bags while we walked around New York. The front desk said they couldn't take them and we had to take our own bags down 2 flights of stairs to the bell stand. Several hours later we returned […] to the hotel to pick up the keys and we waited in a line for 40 minutes. After finally getting the keys I asked for our bags to be taken to the room, once again they refused so I had to go get them myself. My last complaints are about the service in the restaurants. First off their kitchen received a B rating for cleanliness from the Health Department. I find that unacceptable especially for a "5 Star" hotel. The service in the lobby restaurant was laughably bad, we were seated for 35 minutes before we saw our waiter once. The hostess noticed we had not been served and actually went and got him. After that we each ordered a drink and they can promptly. After delivering the first drinks we never saw the waiter again. We eventually gave up hope and I got up and asked the hostess for the bill. We just paid it and left. Overall the hotel is historic and in a great location but I have stayed at many of its direct competitors in the City before and the will never stay at the Waldorf again.
