Overall it was an average experience. For the price the hotel was well below expectation. I will not select that hotel again.

I had a wonderful time when staying at the hotel. The staff was very helpful with letting us know where to park. However the only complaint I have was when we were about to leave I went to shower and had zero hot water. But everything else was clean and I enjoyed stay at such a beautiful old building.

Stay was horrible. There was a loud party across the hall which kept us awake most of the night from 1 AM on. Got little sleep. The lamp shade in our room was totally warn out, and the bathroom fixtures were outdated, with paint chipping off of the tub. Everything basically was fine. It's a beautiful, charming hotel, except that our room's heater was turned all the way up so that it was about 85-90 degrees when we entered. Even after turning off the heat and opening the windows, the room was extremely uncomfortable. I suspect this was a one-time problem--I hope.

Converting from hotel to apartments. Not well maintained. I had smoke alarm "tweeting" in hallway most of first night, had to help maintenance staff identify/fix it. WiFi works poorly. Has seen its better days.

For the money and location I don't think that the Astor can be beat, The only reason I did not give a 5 for overall rating and condition/maintenance is because it is an older building and apparently has a few moisture problems as evidenced by minor staining of the paint in the rooms that we have stayed in. Beautiful view. Nice walk to Comedy Cafe for Birthday suprise. Quiet. Made for the perfect weekend getaway. I would stay again even tho its only 30 minutes from home. Good price.

The hotel had a nice feel to it, everyone was very pleasant and willing to help in any way they could. The room was slightly to warm, and we could not find the thermostat to turn the heat down. I didn't see this as an issue, I would prefer to have it to warm and open a window than a freezing room. We will most definitely be coming back.

Great location near MSOE, but the condition of the room was poor. Air conditioners weren't available and had to have the be open.

The room overall was nice but they mistaken my Expedia purchase and double charged my account. In the morning I complained and they fixed it but the mistake should have never happened in the first place.

The hotel was built in the 1920s and boosts this old-time feel. The rooms were comfortable but the bed was small (full size) and we were unable to control the heat or open windows making for a very hot room in early October. Check-in & out was easy. The hotel still uses physical room keys (which you are charged for if you lose). Parking is 7$ a day […] in a small lot. Location was within walking distance to lots of bars & restaurants and the historical feel of the neighborhood was great. Small free breakfast including coffee (won't find a coffee maker in your room), mini muffins, bagels, cereal and fruit (apples, bananas). There were also waffles but you were supposed to ask for assistance when making them and a sign encouraged you to eat in the small nook as opposed to taking your food elsewhere. The stay was ok but the problem was the steam heat. This was late September and there was no HEAT and the temps had dropped below 50. We had to stay in bed under the covers if we wanted to stay warm. We did not have to spend a great deal of time in the room and was convenient to all of our events.

the rooms are really old and in bad need of a remodel. While it did have a flat screen i would have preferred they spend the money on new carpet as it was badly stained and a better fit to the window air conditioner. (it was put in with plywood and you could see outside) Would not stay there again at any price.

Although the staff were all friendly and helpful, the overall condition of the hotel was disappointing. It had an offensive odor, the carpeting was tattered and the room was stark. Overall my experience at the hotel was lovely. It was a little high priced for the room I had, especially because the bottom of the tub was not in the best shape. I would have preferred a little cheaper for what I received but the staff was wonderful and helpful and the location is within walking distance of plenty of things.

They need to keep the wedding crowd on separate floors. Several of our family members staying in other rooms were up all hours of the night due to party people carrying on in the hall. The "continental" breakfast is weak and the coffee is weaker!

We were a party of 8 couples going to Milwaukee Pedal Tavern. 5 couples stayed overnight at the Astor. We chose this hotel for it's convenience to the historic third ward, the reasonable rates, and because it provides free shuttle service so that we did not have to use taxis. Charming hotel with attentive staff and comfortable rooms. You won't be getting a luxurious experience but it's a fair deal when you consider the price. The only let-down was the complimentary breakfast which takes place at a small room that can get very crowded which has very few choices, most of which bread-based, no protein and no fruit.

The Astor is a very charming residential hotel opened in 1920. It has been matained in that fashion for nearly a century. However safe the neighood is (I lived across the street from the hotel 45 years ago and the neighberhood seems as safe), I felt the security in the buidling is reminisant of the 1920's and not the 21st century: ordinary key for the rooms, not an electronic one; one entrance from the parking lot gets one to the elevator bank and stairs without passing the front desk and no visible security cameras; a side entrance that one can bipass the front desk and walk up stairs. Only the main entrance passes the front desk. Being a senior citizen makes me much more aware of security. I return to Milwaukee about twice a year and used to stay near the airport, but since I don't drive any longer, I need something near downtown. Will I return? I have to think about it. Đọc thêm

We rented a room at the Astor because it was convenient to the location we wanted and relatively inexpensive. We knew it was described as "vintage" but it was more like the hotel in The Shining. Very very very dated. However, that was the least of the issues. The bed was absolutely awful. It visually looked like a mattress sheet stuffed with potatoes, […] and the middle was so used and worn, that even without any person on the bed, the sway in the middle was nearly 6" below the top or bottom ends. And when you actually get in the bed...you are in a nearly "C" shape with your back. Second, we were there on a warm night (about 80) and the tiny window AC unit (not industrial- a tiny one that you see in a dorm room) was allegedly at 60 degrees and yet the room was easily 80. Third, they have those old mini blinds without any curtains. So if you expected to sleep in a dark room, forget it. Fourth, it appeared someone started a paint job in the bathroom, got half way (with a new color) and then stopped. Fifth, there was a smeared handprint of a mystery substance on the headboard. And finally, when I looked at the bill under my door, they had billed me a price more than what I booked and paid on hotels.com. When I went to figure it out at the front desk, I found out they had actually double billed me- once from hotels.com and once on their own with the card they needed at check in. The hotel is old but has charm. It is at least half occupied by residents. The hallways and public areas could use an update. The location is terrific and so is the staff. I particularly appreciated the shuttle service.

the location of the hotel was nice and was within walking distance to many things. the astor was a nice place to stay... however, with it being so old one must expect a little wear and tear. the astor could use a little sprucing up, but i would stay there again. in the end i got a good nights sleep and had a fun.
