When I pulled up appearance was a little scary. Looked better in the inside but it was under construction and elevators door wouldn't open to lobby and had to use stairs. When told about they put a man in the elevator to pry open the door so that was good. I am sure when the are down with the upkeep it will be better.

The Best Western TLC Waltham is an affordable lodging alternative when visiting Boston, as long as the commute into and out of Boston are calculated into one's plans. The front desk was very friendly both for check in as well as check out. There are renovations on the Lobby floor due to the construction of a new restaurant. and notices were posted about […] possible construction noise during daytime hours, but since we were not in our room during the day, this did not affect us. Our room was large and had all of the amenities we needed including a small refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board. This hotel is starting to undergo a desperately needed refresh, however my room was spacious and very quiet, making for a relaxed few days away on business. Look forward to seeing the difference the changes make, although it's not clear how long this will take

Location was right off the highway, an odd enclosed balcony with a window that only opens about 3 inches. Cont. breakfast was ok: waffels, breads, cereal and boiled eggs. Did not try the pool but it lookes nice.

A good hotel at a great price, close to where we were going. We enjoyed the continental breakfast in the morning. The pillows were a bit small and so was the bathroom, but fine for a couple.

Temperature of the room could not be regulated and was often too hot or cold. The room air conditioner/ heater was loud and annoying. I found ants in the bathroom everyday. The staff was okay and the bed was okay. Not a hotel I would go out of my way to recommend.

Hotel currently under renovation. 7AM to 7PM work schedule a little annoying. Staff quickly resolved an equipment issue in the room by moving us to another one.

They were remodeling and while I was taking a nap I awoke frightened by a workman on my balcony. The remote didn't work. The elevators squeaked and rattled, plaster all over the floors it looked like it was snowing. in the lobby and my room. The sixth floor has low ghetto looking ceilings. We've stayed here many times. It is a great value in terms of price. However, the more we stay, the more tired we're becoming of the paper-thin walls. We have yet to have a stay where we don't hear neighbors or activity in the hallway. The staff has always been particularly friendly and helpful, and the accommodations are adequate. The hotel is presently under renovation (Oct 2012), so hopefully, things will improve in the future. We had requested a non-smoking room; however, the hotel was fully booked and we ended up being placed on a smoking floor. (Expedia doesn't guarantee smoking/non-smoking btw!) The hallway had strong smoke/"air freshener" odors; however, the room didn't […] smell of smoke which was good. The room, did; however, have strong solvent odors from the resurfacing paint which had been applied to the tub/shower. I inquired about being able to change rooms; however, none were available. The front desk also said that the hotel would be all non-smoking in a few weeks once the renovations on the smoking floor were complete. Luckily, our room still had doors that could open to the balcony and the weather was fine so with these doors open, the room aired out enough that the solvent odor was not bothersome. (the front desk indicated they were being replaced with non-opening windows as part of the renovation...) The room was clearly "in process" of being upgraded since all of the trim around the wall / floor edges and the edges of the vinyl wall paper were exposed. Some seams were also peeling back. Breakfast was typical of "free breakfasts". U-make Belgian waffles, bagels, cold cereal, etc. Pool & fitness center were also typical, one treadmill, bike, elliptical & universal machine. Easy drive down I-95 to I-90 into downtown Boston but much cheaper than anything else I could find in the Boston area and included breakfast. The best part for me was the HVAC unit that had a "Continuous" option for the fan (so it didn't stop and start all night long) and a specific temperature setting (a comfortable 66 degrees all night!). Breakfast had the typical options - waffles, bagels, toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal - but was in a nice, good sized room and the pulp free OJ was great! The room smelled of old cigars. As I checked in, the desk clerk was assisting an elderly lady to find another hotel as this one was booked completely, so I knew there was not an option to change to a clean room. We booked through Hotel.com and asked specifically for a non-smoking room. Evidently those details did not make it to the hotel because they put us in smoking rooms. The odor was very strong. My husband and I stayed at this hotel as opposed to the more expensive one across the way where our conference was actually taking place. It was perfectly convenient and we saved a considerable amount of money. The room was quiet and had an iron, microwave and refrigerator. We would definitely stay here again.
