hotel experience was poor to say the least, no place to really eat, you just felt like you were staying in an somewhat run down apartment complex, the only positive about staying there was good location, beautiful beach, just make sure your room is on the beach, and not all the way to the back, otherwise its a hike to the beach

My stay was great. Although it was too short. Could use a restaurant or convenience store at the location. Red hook is pretty close and has lots of restaurants so that evens it out.

Stayed 2 nights at the end of our boat charter. The condo rooms had nice tropical decor and a large balcony, ours overlooked a marina. Though pretty, if you scratched the surface, there were issues that detract from this really being a good place to stay. We were a large party with multiple rooms and none of them had a working phone, so we had to use […] our cells to call each other or the front desk or had to walk the long distance back to the office. Each was told "oh you must be in one of the rooms with a broken phone" so this not a new issue, nor do I think a rare one. There's a small BBQ style eatery on property which was overrun by cruise ship folk, so I would avoid this property when ships are in if you don't want to hang out with loud drunk obnoxious swearing people ordering copious frozen drinks. There's nowhere else to get food unless you walk to the small Sapphire restaurant or pay a taxi to Red Hook. The staff was rather unhelpful, the exception was the bellman who tried hard to accommodate us, not that we asked for much. I never did find the laundry (which we really needed after a week on a boat) even after calling the desk on my cell twice and being told "it is on the lower level of your building"--it's not. Our friends had true beach front rooms and they had wonderful views. It looks like no one has done basic preventative maintenance at the hotel for a decade. The rooms are run-down and dated; the lobby/reception area is completely gutted and dilapidated. The grounds were nicely maintained, exceptionally quick taxi service, pool areas and restaurant fit the price. The condo room floor was gritty with 2 dead insects. The walls and entry door have obviously peeling paint. Our reservation was made for 4 occupants; however, the sleeping area, linens and towels were available for 2 occupants.

Room was pretty well finished, with a small kitchen and nice tiles and granite countertops, but the maintenance was pretty sketchy. Grout was stained some tiles broken, and the toilet didn't flush. Overflowed once onto the marble tile floor. This was a condo studio, not a resort hotel room, no view and loud neighbors.

The rooms could use some updating and refreshing (rooms are damp and appliances starting to rust) but was kept clean by housekeeping. If you are looking for a great beach experience you have found your place... literally right on the beach and you can hear the waves crashing from your rooms. Also, great proximity to Red Hook.

My condo was dingy and run down. The screen door on the slider was broken and actully fell on me (the answer to the problem was not to use it). The hotel was in a nice location but only had one resturant and it was on the opposite side of the resort as the beach was so you either got lucky with day time excitement of food and entertainment for the evening.

I had no real issues with the property itself. They jip you on towels and there is some electrical problem that causes part of the unit to lose power entirely. I had to explain myself each time I drove past the security gate that I was a guest there and get a lecture about how I needed to get a parking pass. For the price and what you get - a great view, proximity to the beach - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. I had specifically requested a 2 queen size bed room and was assured of this after an hour on the phone with the hotels.com rep. What I loved most about the hotel was the tranquility and the amazing ocean view.....I would wake up at 5:30am and sit the balcony to watch the sun rise. It was so peaceful. we stayed at the studio rooms they are about a 5min walk from sapphire beach and reseption. The hotel is in renovation so they are using a room as the reception. I would suggest to rent a car it would be cheaper because taxi rides are expencive (do keep in mind they drive on the opposite side), there is some open air taxi's that charge two dollars a person they only do a circle and go one way so its perfect to ride to red hook and downtown. i would actually stay at the windiham hotel because its an all inclusive resort. The Sapphire Village is on the hill, so you can see the Sapphire Beach from the balcony (this beach is the most beautiful on the island). How wonderful to be so surprised! After shopping all the STT resorts online, I selected Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina. My room could easily have accomodated 4. From the main resort rooms one can step directly into the sand. I selected a studio, bargain price unit and faced directly into the marina, where my kids had moored their sailboat. Honestly, […] had I chosen a specific room in advance, this is the one I would have picked. The staff was friendly, polite & helpful. As with many Carribean resorts, this one would not be deemed perfect by stateside standards. There were stains on the tile where the refrigerator previosly leaked and the hurricane door had settled, so it didn't latch. It was easy for me to fix the door without enduring the frustration of going on a maintenance list. As with most resorts in that area of the world, the screens were compromised. Those were minor details for the incredible price I paid. The studio had a nice kitchen, sitting area, sliding doors to separate the bedroom area, large deck, good TV reception & was very clean. In addition, Red Hook nearby made the location perfect. The ferries to St. John run from that port and fun shopping & restaurants make Red Hook a great place to enjoy island life without the congestion and cruise ship tourist over population of Charlotte Amalie. Every unit is different. My unit was fine but the other room that we booked was not. The locks were not working and they were slow in fixing the problem. Otherwise, the resort is good value for your money. The beach is less than 5 minutes away and Red Hook is about 10 mins away by taxi.

We stayed in 2 separate units in 2 different buildings. They both had the basics with a small kitchenette but both were very different. One was very well taken care off and the other one wasn't and that is a problem as each unit is individually owned. You can be lucky to get a well furnished one or you can get one that needs a lot of upgrading with […] drapes or a stove that doesn't work. The resort needs a lot restoration which is a shame as the beach is wonderful for swimming and snorkelling despite the $7 a day for loungers. The " restaurants" there are privately owned and it is worth the $8 each way taxi ride to go into Red Hook to buy bagels and coffee.- or pay $6 for a coffee and bagel there. The units come with a welcome package of a small bottle of rum and coke but not with coffee or tea or bottled water. So if you arrive late !! The staff are very helpful and if you need extra things they will deliver them quickly. The taxi service on the Island is very very expensive and if you have an early flight out it will cost to $90 to get to the airport. There are a lot of pools between the resorts.
