clean room, no frills but the price was right. I do wish they would use a less air fresher type stuff--strong smell that drives my allergies nuts. But would stay again.

Dirty, cheap, no elevator (room was on the 3rd floor), breakfast was severely lacking, the clerk that checked us in was not at all friendly (especially after he realized we were a gay couple NOT wanting two rooms, or a room with two beds) - Will never stay in a super 8 again.

Not horrible, but not that great. Room smelled like a smoking room eventhough it wasn't. Bed comfort was terrible as well as the pillows. Room was clean. Was concerned of when they locked the back door if at all. Not my kind of hotel. If I'm going to have to pay to stay somewhere, I'd rather stay somewhere a little better. I try to stay away from the discount side of the motel/hotel world but on this trip I had no choice. We were in Ames for graduation and had tried to make reservations before Christmas. Alas there were only the most expensive hotels and cheapest motels with any vacancies. So... I went cheap, a big mistake. But to my defense all the prices were almost […] double because of it being graduation weekend and most of them had requirements of a 2 day stay. This motel was smelled like mildew and cigarettes. The carpets were so dirty that when I walked around in my white athletic socks for awhile it turned them black. I was disgusted. Needless to say I did not walk in the room barefooted. The shower was hot but the water pressure was so low it was very difficult to rinse off. The toilet would not stop running. The curtains would not close. The HVAC was either all the way on or off. paper thin walls mean you'll hear everything in the hallway and in the parking lot. Doors that need a good nudge to latch are an added bonus.

The 2 pillows in our room were flat as pancakes and when I asked for more they told me that they didn't have any extras. The bed was uncomfortable. The chair on the other hand was comfy and the bathroom was large which was nice but the shower head was to low and there were holes in the wall in the bathroom also. I will not stay there again

Room appeared clean until we pulled back the sheets and saw something smeared on the box springs. Sheets appeared clean but stained as well as towels. Loud pounding noise at 5 in the morning. I would strongly urge you to NOT stay at this hotel. It is located in very close proximity to several other hotels that would be a much better choice. It is extremely outdated and the cleanliness of the room is sketchy at best. There are virtually no amenities at this hotel, but if you're in a bind and simply need a bed to sleep in--it will do the trick. […] I was on a pretty tight budget when I stayed there and booked the room through Hotels.com. Felt like I smoked 2 packs of cigarettes! Horrible! Never again! I was even in a non-smoking room. The hallways are really bad smelling of smoke......I'm not even picky person.

The hotel smelled of old cigerette smoke. The bed was so uncomfortable and only 2 pillows on the queen bed and they were as flat as a pancake. Would not recommend this hotel and will not plan to stay there again. Also no wifi. It is 2013 every hotel has wifi.

Room was warm, clean and neat. Heater was very loud even on low fan and there was some mold around the bottom of the tub surround caulking. Lower level hallway smelled of cigerette smoke probably from people smoking in the rear stairwell since I stayed in Feb.

It was not happy because hotel was not clean. I had non-smoking room but I could smell it. The sound of heater was so big and could'nt sleep and water power in bath was not strong.

The staff was friendly upon check in, the coffee was good, shower was clean. There were red spots on the floor , that may have been nail polish, or may have blood. Hard to tell. There was also a red spot on the underside of the bedspread...blood? Nail polish? Who knows. Other than that, it was fine.

Room was very warm for November... had window and fan on all night and was still cooking.Contiental breakfast was pretty sparse. I would say we got what we paid for.

I liked being able to park right below my window and go in the back door. I also loved being in the last room on the 2nd floor.

Chad the Manager was awesome. The whole experience was a #5. II will go back in the next four months. On my trip I tried to stay at a number of Super 8 hotels but their prices were higher then the Ames Hotel.and Expedia. I should have called Expedia back.

I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!! The room was very clean and roomy. Hotel staff was friendly. Location was good, right off Hwy 30 and I 35. I plan on using this hotel for future travel to Iowa.

I was not please with the rate of this hotel being 3.5 more like a 2.0. I felt I pd for 3.5 and got a 2.0 rate.

The breakfast was lacking. I know that a "continental" breakfast is sparse and this breakfast was really sparse.

Overall experience was not good. Rooms were below average in every way. I will be staying somewhere else next time I visit Ames.

The staff was accommidating and professional. Brought up clothes iron right away after requesting it. Room was in good condition and clean on arrival, and everything was reset perfectly when room cleaned. Only downside was the simple breakfast in the morning, but I never planned on eating at the hotel.

I needed a cheap place to sleep for one night. The hotel fit the bill for that. It was cheap, and I slept. There was a football team staying at the same time we were. They were up very early Saturday morning and were very loud!! i had requested a refrigerator and didn't get one. The was a burn mark on the blanket of our bed also. We won't be staying here again.

The TV only got about 6 channels even though there was a list of over 30 on the desk. We stayed 2 nights and the bathroom was not cleaned. Dirty towels were left and the floor and tub were not cleaned. Our room was near the back entrance so when we returned at midnight we assumed we would need to use our key card. We stayed here after getting our daughter settled into college life at ISU. The room felt old and dirty. The price was ok, but didn't really meet my expectations.

We had a 1st floor room and it smelled damp and musty. No fridge. No microwave. However pets are allowed, and we had our two small dogs with us.

One of electrical outlets off and it was fixed next day (we had a two day stay)--apparently some one then put a do not disturb sign on the door so room not cleaned--soap was also in short supply
