I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. It was supposed to be the best of the hotels we booked in Malta but turned out to be the worst. I had booked a cheaper room as I thought being a good hotel all rooms would be fine. This was incorrect as I booked a room supposedly facing into a courtyard. It turned out to face inward to the reception desk. […] This may have been okay if the air conditioning was working but it was not. This meant to get any air we needed to open the sliding doors into the reception area and a lot of noise.So the choice became suffocation or noise. When I enquirer at the reception the man on the desk was extremely condescending and unhelpful and his attitude was well I can't do anything about it! I do not recommend this hotel at all. Đọc thêm

First impressions were good although room was not ready when we arrived (after check-in time). Its facilities look good - only the indoor pool was open due time of year and the children's play time wasn't rigorously enforced - but the others would be great in the summer. There's about a 15min walk downhill to a sandy beach. It has several bars (with […] happy hour / promotions) and restaurants attached to the complex with reasonable prices (€3 for local beer, €8 upwards for bottle of wine). Evening meals in the buffet were standard bulk catering, there was nightly variation (Italian night, Maltese night) and the option to eat in an alternative restaurant for a reduced price (if half-board) was a welcome one. There is a free car-park that that fills up quickly at weekends and finding a space on the street can be time consuming. The room was large, light and reasonably clean. Bed's were large singles pushed together. It does feel as though attention to detail is lacking though eg coffee and sugar granules in the crack of a table, chipped soap dish, stain on lampshade, ill fitting wardrobe doors etc. The hotel as well seems to suffer from a damp problem throughout (built into a hill) which leaves some notable wall marks and a funny smell in some of the corridors. it was very relaxing but few things i must say.. one is that , being a spa, only gym and jacuzzi can be used by residents. gym is for the members only. another thing is that even though i informed hotel that i needed a double bed, they never told me that for them that meant that they lay the sheets of a double bed but keeping a 2 single mattresses underneath!! […] and one last thing..... dinner buffet is almost the same food everyday :( Đọc thêm

Excellent location. Staff were friendly throughout. Rooms were serviced each day. They did run out of pool towels which left us a little short but later that afternoon they supplied us with them. Generally not for younger children as theres a lack of facilities for them. However overall this was a very enjoyable experience for us all. Thank you.

We purchased what we thought was a bargain for this hotel - but we got what we paid for. Overall a reasonable holiday, but it was the many minor things that spoilt it. The hotel was OK, but nothing special. On arrival the receptionist was helpful. After finding the room, there was very little storage space - a small wardrobe with 5 hangers between us, […] & none of them able to accommodate skirts/trousers. There were 3 shelves next to the hanging space. We did ask for more hangers, but they didnt arrive. There was only one set of towels, (which were well worn) - a further set did arrive after quite a considerable time. The safe didnt work and a security person had to come and set it. The pool area downstairs next to the restaurant is quite small and all loungers were taken by 8.30 in the morning..... The pool area on the roof is much larger, but the pool itself is small. We decided to eat at the rooftop restaurant one evening - the pizzas were excellent - but we had waited over 50 minutes for them to arrive! We were not the only ones who had waited for this length of time. Although we had nothing else to do for the evening, it took the edge of what was otherwise a good meal. The room itself was comfortable enough, but the balcony wasnt very wide, and although 2 chairs were placed on it there was no room to move them at all - each chair leg on the outside ledge were in a groove immediately next to the wall. We stayed at this hotel the night before a very early flight, and booked a suprior 'village view' room. Our room was in a building accross the street from the main hotel which involved 2 lifts and a underground passage and ramp which had a very unpleasant smell. Our room key did not work but a very friendly chambermaid let us in. On telephoning reception […] they implied that it was our fault the key would not work and seemed totally unconcerned. As we had to check out at 4.30 am we were offered an early bird breakfast but on arriving at reception at 4 am it was in total darkness. The desk clerk reluctantly left his office and said there would be a problem getting hot water? We had to ask him to put a light on which meant that we then could help ourselves to a bread roll and cheese which obviously had been laid out the night before. The room was adequate but with an institutional feel, although lots of money has been spent on the bathrooms #we had 2#. We had a balcony overlooking the main road through the town #village view# with the mankiest sunbed I have ever seen, there are better ones dumped at my local tip. We did not use the restaurants so cannot comment. Overall it was just OK for one night but had the feeling that the staff needed a reality check to let them know they were in the service industry. We booked a comfort village view room but somehow got upgraded to La Salita Suite, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel itself is split into two buildings. To get to the other building you have to go through a short tunnel under the road. It is nicely done. The only confusing thing is you don't know if you are going up or down in the elevators as they start from 0 or -2 depending on which building you are. Reception is on level 3! Large variety at the buffet breakfast. Get the feeling some of the drinks and food (beans) are watered down and perhaps the quality of the food isn't the best out there but it was still fine nonetheless. Room service was good too. The location of the hotel is in Mellieha and has lots of shops, restaurant and banks on the same street. You'd need a car to get around, otherwise just book tours that pick you up direct from the hotel. The hotel is 5 stars but the car park gets 0 stars. They should say restricted private parking as access is via a steep and tight spiral entrance/exit. Spaces are limited (say about 10 cars) so if it's full you have to park elsewhere. The hotel was good and staff helpful. But the location is not as ideal as it sounds like because of the hill and distance to the beach. One cannot walk and move about so freely. Also they charged us for iron board although I ironed my self. You need a car if you stay there !!

Unfortunately getting there requires 20-25 min walk downhill (and uphill on your way back), so if you're not an active holidays enthusiast then you need to rely on the local buses (risky strategy) or hotel's free beach transport in the high season. […] The breakfast in the hotel was ok, but cold meats tasteless and poor quality and no fresh fruits and veg served with the breakfast (only the ones in syrup), the muesli section on the other hand was pretty impressive. The room itself was comfortable and decent size, but the balcony was very small (you can hardly fit 2 chars there, not mentioning having a nice meal outside). This can be compensated by the beautiful hotel garden and roof pool. The bed was convenient and the bathroom was nice and clean. The electric equipment in the room however was quite dated, with the fridge producing more heat than chill, inefficient and loud air-conditioning and the TV with only 2 English channels. These are still a minor problems as Malta is a beautiful country which fully compensates for the inconveniences and the people are nice and friendly (same applies to the hotel staff). This is a very, very good hotel and certainly befits its 4* rating. However, the air conditioning in the room was not working. When I reported it I was told that there was a fault and that the air conditioning in the whole hotel was out. A fan was provided which was helpful. We were there for a week at the end of March and during that time the air conditioning […] in the room never worked but it was obvious it was working in Reception and the restaurants? Never saw any aircon vans outside or technicians wandering about which leads me to suspect that room aircon (like the pool bar facilities), only kicks in during summer months. This is an ok hotel, but we didn't have the best experience. We arrived at the hotel at midday (from our flight landing at 11am), and weren't able to check in until after 2pm. We had asked for a garden facing room, and were given a village facing room on the main road, and they were quite unhelpful about trying to change it for us. In the end they said […] we could change rooms the following day. It turned out that the air conditioning in our first room wasn't working, and it was intolerably hot even with the door open - and the weather wasn't hot outdoors. We had to sit in our underwear all evening it was so hot. The following day, despite being told that we could move straight into the new room, we were required to check out of the first room first thing in the morning, and then were not allowed to check into the new room until after 2pm. The staff were very unhelpful and we ended up waiting around at the hotel all day, not really knowing what was happening. The new room was much cooler, and the air conditioning was working. The buffet breakfast was mostly good, but the buffet evening meal was not great. The food was very overcooked. Several large parties of teenagers attended 'learning events' in the hotel and chased each other round the gardens and swamped the pool. There are no changing facilities near the indoors pool (they are on the floor below with the spa), and you're not supposed to go in the corridors in your swimwear so I don't know how that's supposed to work. Friendly staff. Unfortunately smell of sewage in corridor. Room floor and toilet needed a good clean. Breakfast was plentiful. Good location for amenities in Mellieha like restaurants, bank and bus stop.

A lovely clean and welcoming hotel, the staff were very efficient. The few things we experienced on arrival (such as no coathangers with hooks and a locked room safe) were sorted immediately. The only thing we could possibly moan about was that the lifts took a long time to arrive and were very small.

Good location in the village. Good sized room with very large bed. Plenty of hot water under good pressure in bathroom. Breakfast, which did not appear to differ any day, was buffet style, selection of hot & cold food which included omelettes, made to order. Indoor swimming pool was a little too cold as were the changing rooms. Attractive garden area […] with swimming pool, but not many seats in evidence (could be the time of year). Cocktail bar was pleasant and resonably priced. Underground Car park has a tight spiral entrance/exit and not suitable for cars over 3 metres long (I think the sign said). A tunnel links the main hotel to the building opposite, which was not a problem but could be confusing when getting a lift. Restaurants/bars linked to hotel i.e. The Arches, opposite the main hotel - served good food & selection of fine wines in lovely surroundings , 120 Bar (also opposite main hotel) is similar to English pubs in style, football matches screened most days & good selection of drinks including a local cocktail & Al Ponte, within main hotel, served good sized portions of food in a busy but not cosy restaurant. This could be a great place to stay if they worked on customer service. On the first night I collapsed in the lobby due to low blood pressure and the two receptionists just stared! No help, no asking my partner if I was ok, no chair or water offered. I have never experienced such coldness. I had two cold swims in the 'heated' indoor pool. When I complained a bottle of wine was sent to the room. I wanted a warm swim, not a bottle of wine, but a nice touch. Strangely our cups were changed every day but the glasses weren't swapped for clean ones once and we lived with the same grotty teaspoon (singular) all week too! One thing I hadn't read about in any other reviews was the horrendous 'spiral' car park. In a Vauxhall Astra it was IMPOSSIBLE to drive around the bends and after about 47 three point turns we finally got down to the dingy, empty car park. Unless you have a small car do not attempt! I mentioned it to reception and was curtly told that there are warnings as you enter the car park. After checking, there are warnings, but only about the maximum height, not the width of the car. Parkers BEWARE! There are charges to 'hire' a dressing gown at reception and 'towel cards' to make sure you don't steal the ragged spa towels for swimming. You get the feeling they don't trust you. Did not get the room we had booked. Upgraded from sea view to larger room, but with no view at all. Disappointing. Also furniture in room broken and ac/heating very noisy.

The hotel was quite presentable, although closer inspection showed that it's in need of some maintenance - we had a heavy rainshower one day, and water was seeping through the roof in the hallway, with nasty smelling carpets as the result for the rest of the day. The room was nice and clean though. I've seen bad comments about the underground hallway […] to the annexe on the other side of the street - we tried it once, and it looked fine for all we could see... We visited in November/December, and so can't comment on the garden and rooftop pools, but the indoor pool was nice, particularly with a toddler! The breakfast buffet was nice and reasonably varied, although the same every day. The location is fine, with nice views of the village and the bay from our balcony (room 639) and in close proximity to restaurants (a few very good ones!) and supermarkets. We stayed on the top floor, so not much noise from the street, but it might be worse further down during high season? Mellieha is a bit off the beaten track, but the best beach in the country is within easy reach. Free parking in the basement is a bit of a hassle, but you can park for free on the Triq Adenauer or in front of the police office, the latter if you don't mind bird droppings all over your car if you park between 16 and 18! Friendly and attentive staff - english is no problem, even with the cleaning ladies, but then again, that's Malta for you... Overall, as a 4 star hotel, you might expect a little bit more, but then again, we paid half the price of a 0 star London hotel, so in terms of value for money, this place is a true bargain, and I would definitely consider it for another visit, even at three times the price during high season!
