There were two major minuses - 1. The blankets felt greasy, probably hadn't been washed in quite a while. 2. The bed was the lumpiest I have ever slept on.

I stay at a range of hotels from 5 star right down the line. Oak is an older place, but serviceable -- good for a night or two on the cheap or when the selection is limited for the Palo Alto area where hotels can cost a bundle, especially on Mon-Tue- Wed nights.

Our stay was ok. There are some problems inside the room. The breakfast is not that great! No decaf coffee available, limited Juice selection. The wall sockets are loose and some of them are not even working. The toilet is making too much noise. But the service is excellent.

Friendly helpful staff, great location, clean but not immacualate. Hotel extends aways from the street, so not noisy. Good deal for the price. Would stay again.

This motel is very solid for what it is -- a basic accommodation conveniently located near many noteworthy sites. It is certainly not luxurious, but I found it clean and very acceptable for the price. I would definitely stay there again if circumstances warranted it.

The rooms had a strong smell of cigarette smoke and it did not appear that housekeeping swept the room completely. On a positive note, the front desk staff were very courteous and helpful.

The room smelled of old tobacco and "fresh up"spray. You could hear the person living upstairs was wandering around all night. Very loud. Can not be recommended !!!

Some basics were missing: Breakfast is minimal, hot water was warm water, little variety. Needed small memo pad / pen in room ..nothing provided.My previous Hotel down the street was more comfortable, Comfort Inn...left because they wanted to charge 50% more for an extra night

BAD! The reomote contol for the TV did not work, even with new batteries. Only had one towel and one wash cloth for two guests. We needed an additional pillow and none were available. Their excuse was they were full and they had no extra pilows! The manager did not seem interested in our problems. Magnetic key to the room didn't work much of the time. Forced to go to the front office on multiple occasions over my 2 day stay to get the key re-programmed. Room also did not have a working remote control for the TV. Room marginally clean.

This motel met my needs. My priorities were to be close to my destination the next morning and for the room to be clean and neat with no unpleasant odors. It met my minimum criteria but got points off for service because I had to go to the office to borrow an ironing board and iron. Also, I got coffee in the morning from the lobby and then was locked […] out of my room. I had to return to the office to have my key reactivated. Absolutely terrible night in hotel. Problems with room key, AC, TV & shower. Room smelled of water damage and mold. Paint was peeling from walls and room was generally dirty and uncomfortable.

Carpet just shampood, still a bit damp. Bathroom large, clean and had many new features.Did not hear any neighbors ven though motel was full and I was on bottom floor. Right next to Dinah's a high end hotel. Would stay again. Great fo the price.

There was a large party in another room that went on till 2AM, so forget about sleeping. Called from desk, but it didn't help. I would not recomend this hotel to anyone.

It was a nice hotel for the price. I didn't specify a non-smoking room so it did smell like smoke a little bit. I picked up a can of Lysol Neutra air and got rid of the smoke smell.I would stay there again

I stayed for an entire week at the Oak. Great price and location. The first 4 nights were fine. They are not high end rooms but you get what you pay for. I had to extend my trip one day and had to move rooms. My new room had a funky, rotting smell and the carpet was damp. I called the front desk to get a different room but they were sold out. Worst […] night I have ever spent in a hotel room ever. I bought heavy duty air fresher and even a scented candle to no avail. I let them know in the morning and they tried to blame it on the fact that it was a smoking room. I've stayed in plenty of smoking rooms - this was way different. I will not stay there again. I stayed here due to last minute booking, the price was well above the quality of the hotel. On the up side, there was a minifridge in the room, and most importantly the sheets were clean and the location right on El Camino Real was extremely convenient for me. The room keys were finicky and didn't usually work on the first try, but it worked eventually. […] The shampoo provided was really bad, I recommend getting your own. The employees were all very nice, we never had a problem. The continental breakfast they provided was rather sad, miniature bagels, no cream cheese. Location is convinient, right El Camino. Other then that, not much good to say about this hotel. You get the feeling that the owners are just milking it without investing at all in maintenance, repairs etc. The bathroom fixtures are rusting out, the caulking is dirty and peeling, the room carpets look like they are from the 70's, the towels are rough […] and thin etc. The price was way too high given the condition of this place. First floor room, one screen missing, another bent and broken. Cigarette burns in the bathroom. The toilet backed up and there was no plunger or toilet brush to be found. The bathtub had stains and damage to it. The sink and faucet where not marked hot or cold. The clientele was the kind that smoked and drank outside of the rooms so leaving the windows […] open, even if the screens were present, or worked, would have made sleep impossible. Very good value for the money -- but then you are not paying much. Hotel has seen better days, but serves its purpose -- clean room to crash while on business in Palo Alto. Our room overlooked the pool and rose garden! Beautiful and clean, the bed was a bit too luxurious and soft. The only complaint I had was the bathroom fixtures and plumbing. If those were updated, it would be a five all the way.
