Avila La Fonda Hotel - Bãi biển Avila

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary here. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Love the location, short walk to the beach. The room is spacious and had all the amenities needed, bedding very nice and comfy. We hope to be staying here again in the future.

There were were many exceptional things about Avila La Fonda Hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel staff baked and served homemade pies in the evening and smells of the baking pies wafting throughout the hotel was lovely. Hotel and area were great! Staff was VERY friendly just like all the people in the area. Complimentary and honor system ammenities make you feel at home or staying with family. Would definitely go back!!

Although we were only able to spend one night there, it was a great experience. Although the hotel would be best for couples, I went with my parents and my sister and still enoyed the experience. We were given the choice of adjoining rooms (one spa room and one great room), but we elected to have rooms that were separated so that we could both have […] spa rooms. For families, it would be good to have the adjoining rooms since the great room has kitchen facilities (but the bed is a murphy bed). The staff was very accommodating and welcoming. We truly appreciated the wine & appetizers at 5 PM, cookies & pie at 8 PM and the chocolate croissants in the morning. The welcome gift was a basket of snacks and the departure gift was chocolates. What more could you ask for??!! The beach is only about a block away and there are little shops and eateries near by. The pantry in which they sell goodies (at their cost!) is also wonderful. They were right, the walls are thin and the outside noise welcomed themself in. Bring in yogurt or your own breakfast treat if you are a health freak, the morning pastry's are a delight but heavy on the body. Other than that, great romantic hotel. Good service, etc and etc. Very beautiful hotel. Great stay.

We made our reservations online so we didn't know what to expect. We were so pleased with everything from the wonderful staff to the lovely, sort of tropical rooms. We were so excited that the room came with a spa in the room. We couldn't wait to relax and take a hot tub bath and watch the very large TV. Later that evening atree fell on some electrical […] wires in town and knocked out all the electricity in the area, including the hotel. The staff was so efficient. One gentleman lit candles and placed them around the hotel in little nooks and on shelves and everywhere. It was beautiful! So romantic. They served wine and cheese and crackers. We went outside and walked down to the beach and because there was no light anywhere in the town, we were able to see the stars like never before. What could have been a very disappointing experience turned out to be so much fun because of the consideration of the wonderful staff. It seemed everyone was calm and efficient. Very nice Tuscany design with a kitchen. This was a gettaway. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Restaurants just up the street and past that the beach. Mineral baths just up the road. What a perfect place for a stay cation. Whiles its not right on the beach, it is only a one block walk to the pier and great restaurants. Awesome experience. Very romantic place to stay. The spa tub in the room, two person shower, wine tasting and evening pie put it in the above and beyond category. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that it is a block removed from the ocean, so you can't open your window and hear the waves like you can at the lighthouse.

I've stayed in many hotels in my life- this one easily win's as the best hotel experience ever. The label "hotel" doesn't really apply, its more like going to visit a well to do uncle with a nice hacienda. You feel like an honored guest and immediately at home. The staff is superb. This was the most amazing hotel that my husband and I had ever stayed at. The staff was great, the room was beautiful, appetizers at night, wine and cheese, fresh cookies and pie!!!! And it's all free. It's these extra touches that make this hotel one of The best!

This is a fantastic little hotel for a romantic getaway, within walking distance to the beach. It is not cheap, but that's fine when you want quality. That said, the room is moderately sized, the shower is fantastic with double shower heads, this room included the whirlpool tub as well. Also included was a fireplace, A/C unit (portable style by the […] window), flat screen and dvd player, fridge, microwave, plates, cups, silverware, corkscrew(!!!) and wine glasses. The freebies are almost too many to mention - basket of snacks which is always charged for at other hotels, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, dvd library. And the food - all free - always something baking - cookies, pies, happy hour including wine, forget the diet here folks! The location is great with multiple wine tasting venues across the street, and some nice - but limited number - of restaurants nearby. The whole town is only a few blocks, so for more variety you will have to drive a short distance to SLO or Pismo. Centrally located 1 block from beach helpful staff. That's where the good comments end. When we made our reservation, one of the questions asked was 'did we prefer a sleep sofa or a Murphy Bed?'. I assumed they meant for additional guests. Surprise, they meant as the main sleeping accomodation!! But not to worry, they have a turndown service every night […] . A staff member comes up, moves a couch aside, moves an armchair aside, moves a coffee table aside, proceeds to drop the Murphy Bed and then tries to decide how he is going to get out of the room. The air conditioning was provided by a portable floor unit ducted for supply air through the french doors out onto the patio. Regardless that there is not enough room on the floor for the unit. They should have provided music for the dance it required to get around the thing. Repeated reference to the instruction manual yielded no clue how to keep the unit running. Wonderful ambiance--- with two balconies you would think at least one provided some relaxing or at least an unimposing vista. Not to be. One faced a side street and the remodeling of a house. If you like sticking your head through a hole to view city construction sites, this unit is for you !! The other balcony overlooked the wonderful fountain outside the hotel and also the entrance to the underground garage and the smelly enclosure where uncollected garbage resides. Advertised as pet-friendly. Called hotel two weeks in advance to confirm and was told that our 13lb. yorkie was welcome. When we showed up we were told they were not pet friendly anymore and tried to move us to another room with a murphy bed.
