El Viandante Hotel - Monteverde

This hotels reviews and discriptions are very much what you would expect... Not much in the area of flatery or expensive decore. It seems great for adventure seeking couples. Desk manager very nice and helpful. It also have very nice and prompt laundry service

The area is most beautiful. Everyone at the B&B made us feel welcome, gave us great tips on where to eat and best things to see. The breakfest was very good especially the fresh fruit. Would love to go back.

The hotel room itself was just average. It has everything you need, but no thrills. However, the owner was as nice and helpful as you could ever want. He's a very interesting guy who has been around the world and back. He is great source for directions and things to do (and not do) in the area. He also makes a mean breakfast!

Location- not in the center of things-hence, it's quiet. Walk to town is 10 minutes- downhill- walk back to hotel is up a long steep hill. Shuttles or taxis will take you right to the front door- so Take a taxi- it's cheap! The owners were SO helpful and accommodating and were ALWAYS available to answer ANY questions and to arrange EVERY tour. Their […] recommendations were "spot on". We stayed there two nights and everything was outstanding. This is a small b&b well located so that it is close to everything but quite. Grace and her husband were particularly helpful with helping us made additional reservation after we decided to change our reservations. We recommend this hotel without any reservations what so ever

Grace and Enzo (I think?) we're fantastic hosts. The hotel is a little off the main street but super convienent. Breakfast was good every morning and their coffee was great. They updated the furniture in the rooms as I was staying and they are very nice. There were plenty of cable channels, but hopefully you won't stay too long in the room because the […] couple is a wealth of information on the countless things to do in Monteverde. I was only there three days and it was not nearly enough time. They are fantastic about booking all of the local tours including which ones they would recommend and why, but more importantly they will tell you what attractions are worth seeing and which pass on. Not to mention they had fantastic restraurant recommendations which really is the key to a great vacation. If I ever get to go back I will book this hotel first, airplane flight second! Đọc thêm

Grace and Renzo, the hosts, are fantastic people and willing to help you figure out your stay in Costa Rica. Though the hotel was initially hard to find, we really enjoyed the rooms, the hot water, and the incredible level of service. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good time in Monteverde.

Never having stayed at a B&B before we took a chance on El Viandante, and we don't regret it at all. The thing that really sets this Hotel apart from any other is the friendly service and helpful advice. We thoroughly enjoyed our three day stay in Montiverde, Costa Rica at the El Viandante Hotel B&B. Renzo and Grace, the owners were very helpful and knew their way around the Monteverde activities and attractions. Grace is American born and speaks English like a native. When I say that it's hard to get to, it applies to everything in Monteverde. It's […] about a ten mile trip up an extremely rough gravel road. Once in Monteverde, there are some nicely paved roads, but you're never very far from a rock strewn road. The last hundred yards or so to the El Viandante are up a nearly vertical gravel stretch that you need to take with a running start in first gear. The El Viandante offers simple modest lodging that's in keeping with the laid back Monteverde life style. By the way, when you're in Monteverde, don't miss the El Tramonti Italian Restaurant. Great place to stay, owners were nice. Will tell you about local places to eat and things to do if you don't know what you want to do. Has free wifi and TV if you end up getting caught in the rain- which we dealt with since we went in August AKA rainy season. We actually told another couple about this place during our stay and they enjoyed it too!

We stayed in 4 different cities during our trip to Costa Rica and I have to say that Monteverde was the best out of San Jose, La Fortuna and Guanacaste. What made our stay more enjoyable was Ell Viandante. Prices are reasonable, and rooms are so comfy. The rooms hear are plain and have a cabiny feel to them, but are clean and comfortable. Don't expect any resort accommadations here, just a place to sleep. The surrounding town will keep you busy so don't let this worry you because you will not want to spend time indoors. The best this about this hotel is it's owners. They are EXTREMLY helpful and accomadating. […] They answered any questions we had about the town and activities to do there. They recommended a great restraunt for dinner, and gave us perfect directions to our activity in the morning as well as directions out of the town. We were overwhelmed by the friendliness and helpfulness of our hotel hosts. The lady of the house ('Grace') is a U.S. citizen, so language was not a problem at all. It was a fantastic experience because Grace helped a lot with organizing our three-day stay in Monteverde, getting the tour buses which picked us up, and making sure we get the best of all […] tours (she knew really every tour in Monteverde). Grace and her husband washed our clothes (remember, you are touring in rain forests....), you get personal breakfast which is different every day, and we plainly felt very, very welcome. For example, first we were offered two queen beds, but then suggested to get one queen and two single beds, which was no problem at all. When we were surprised by the heavy afternoon rain (! yes, we were traveling during the rain season...quite alright!), Grace waited in front of the entrance with towels to dry us. Well, it did rain one day quite a bit, starting at 3 pm. But as you can also use the spacious breakfast room, we could use the time to play card games with our kids and had nevertheless a good time. Much better than in classic hotels.... Lastly: reaching the hotel was a big worry to us because everyone warned us that streets in Costa Rica are always dirt roads and consist of only potholes...it was no trouble whatsoever. We drove from the city center of San Jose to Monteverde in 3.5h. Only the last 20 km were unpaved, but an automatic car would have done it. By the way, the Google maps at hotels.com showing the location of the El Viandante hotel is off by 500 m. So, go directly to the hotel website, then you see the correct location. Đọc thêm

Nice and clean B&B, has all the basics you need and hot water shower. No A/C but its not needed at that mountain climate. The hosts are extremely nice and helpful, will tell where are the best places to go and would book tours for you as well. And in general are very nice people to talk to. Breakfast is basic but good. Very friendly owners and nice breakfast (different every day). The room was basic but spacious and clean. The location is great if you have a car, a bit out of the way if you don't. Good value.

Loved this rustic B&B. Grace and Enzo were fantastic owners and really took great care of us. The ultimate compliment was when my 15 year old said.. "I love this room.. it feels like I am in Yosemite". Excellent Wi-Fi in the room and home cooked breakfast eggs in the morning. El Viandante, which I discovered means "wayfarer" in Italian, is a wonderful little hotel just outside Santa Elena on the way to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, with plenty of hot water in the showers. We enjoyed our stay in El Viandante Hotel. The hosts were great and made our stay very pleasant. They provided us with a lot of information on things to do while we were visiting the area. I highly recommend this place. Breakfast was delicious!

El Viandante is extremely cheap, but you wouldn't know it once you are there. The hotel has a great lodge feel and the rooms are very nice - not the biggest in the world but you have everything you need. This friendly hotel was a welcome sight after the bumpy ride into Monte Verde. It is within walking distance of many of the town's restaurants and sights if you are willing to walk the short but very steep hill (at 6 months in my pregnancy, I tried it a few times). Atendido directamente por sus propietarios. Dándole mucha calidez al trato con los huéspedes. Están prestos a asesorar sobre tours y sobre la zona en general. Siempre hay café. Y tienen siempre una sonrisa.

Es una casa rural en un paraje de montaña, acojedor con un trato excelente y muy biena uvicaciòn. Muy recomendable.
