Best Western Cliff Head Hotel - St Austell

We found the hotel location a bit out of the centre of town and not well served by public transport - we like to leave the car in the car park for the duration of a stay if we can. So we liked the fact the south coast path is right outside the door and that the following day we could walk to the Eden Project. Service was attentive and we enjoyed the […] games in the bar. Our room was beautifully clean but slightly shabby - wallpaper in hotel bathrooms never stays on properly - tiling is always a better option and the window catch was broken. Hotel was a pleasant surprise, staff very helpful.Directions easy to find as plenty of signage once we got to St. Austell. Our room was ok not overy big but adequate although radiator was not working in the bathroom but this was not a problem as our room was very warm. Breakfast very good . We would return another time.

We stayed at this hotel just for three nights. We only booked a 3* hotel so was not expecting that much. We were impressed with the hotel. Okay a little tired and dated but what can you expect. The breakfast was very good. The staff were excellent and very friendly ( it was good to see only local people employed I think). I cannot understand people […] complaining when they book 3* hotel's what do they want? If they want 5* decor etc. then they should pay the price of it. Very Clean, I was supprised at the fact nobody drinks/sits in the bar on an August weekend as it is a bit to far to walk to the nearest pub. good location easy to reach beach and eden project.. small room on 2nd floor, be aware there is no lift at this hotel, bed was well worn with poor springs, we both woke up with a bad back each morning. bath with mixer taps for shower, which did not work on 2nd day of stay. limited food for breakfast, you have to order scrambled egg if you want it. Great location, but would not stop there again

Very pleased and compared with other enquiries made, prices were very reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful and we were particularly impressed that we were allowed in our room at 1 pm as it was all ready for us. We quite expected to be told that, as stated, the rooms would not be available until 2pm.

Efficient reception with friendly staff. Nice room with four poster bed and seaview, clean bathroom but lacking in toiletries. The evening menu could have a more varied choice and was expensive . A set three course meal with two or three choices would have been better. Overall a very pleasant stay.

The hotel is a well maintained if slightly old fashioned. The accommodation is acceptable, although the bed was a small double and bouncy to the extent that it was difficult to get in out out of bed without waking up your partner. Beautiful location, staff very warm and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable as was the hotel generally. The breakfast was of a high standard with a good choice. Very pleased, look forward to returning soon.

Very welcoming on arrival. Extremely helpful about meal times etc. Happy to order morning paper. Room had a nice view of the bay and was very warm and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Altogether a great experience. Would visit again.

The local bus service is excellent except for sundays. Also, the hotel is right on the South West coastal path and there are some wonderful walks from there. The food is very good and the hotel is comfortable to stay in. However I did have to ask to change rooms as the first one I was given was frankly dreadful - clean but in very poor condidtion. The hotel was perfectly adequate if not a little 'tired' on the decor front. The service in the restaurant was poor as they never seemed to have enough staff on.

Excellent setting of the Best Western Cliff Head Hotel in really attractive setting. The hotel staff were excellent but the interior of our bedroom was very poor i.e. the decor had been poorly done. Down stairs aspects were very good.

lovely, friendly and very accommodating staff. Room basic. No lift though so if you have a room on the second floor its stairs all the way!

The staff here are great. The food was lovely too. The room was clean but a few things like a very weak shower, slightly uncomfortable bed and lack of air conditioning or air flow (as the weather was very good) made it a little uncomfortable. Don't let this put you off the. The lovely staff, great location and lovely food is more important.

Hotel in good location for Eden Project and other Cornish sights. Some hotel staff a bit indifferent and slow in offering service. Good breakfast (although the catering manager needs to ensure that they don't run out of breakfast items, as happened with us), mediocre evening meals. Overall a reasonable hotel for the price.

Comfortable hotel and reasonably priced. Ideally situated for casual walkers with wonderful eateries within a short distance. Close to Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and lots of small bays and villages/towns.Helpful and freindly staff. Would recommend to others and will use this hotel again on our next visit.

We were overall very satisfied with our stay here. We had some issues with the shower temperature, and the lack of a lift and having to walk up to the second floor wasn't easy after spending all day walking around the Eden project.
