Hawthorne Dene Hotel - Falmouth

This is an old house, which is well cared for. If you do not like photos of people staring are you while you walk to your room or dine, then this isn't the place for you, as they are everywhere. The little touch of naming each room after a teddy bear situated inside can be a bit twee, but was a nice touch. The room itself has reasonable space and a […] good view of the sea out of the bay window (which has cushions on so you can sit there and enjoy the view). The bear in our room was seated in a small chair instead of on the bed, as he was in other rooms. We soon found the reason for this. The bed was solid. Each night we struggled to get to sleep and when we did, we woke up in pain. My wife even resorted to sleeping on the cushions on the bay window. The shower was a bit on a non-entity as I have seen teething babies dribble more water than came out of the shower. When we arrived, there was a small dead moth on the window sill, which was still there when we left. But apart from that, the room was clean The location was good, and if you are fit, you can walk to the town and its attractions (National maritime museum, Pendennis castle, Trago mills (my mothers fav)). The breakfast was good and there was plenty of it. Just don’t expect service with a cheery good morning. Overall the stay was what we needed it to be, and apart from the bed it serviced our needs. The Owners were very welcoming and made my stay enjoyable. Staff were helpful and nice, could not say more, and would stay there again. Very reasonable.

We had to be in Falmouth for one night for a wedding at Pendennis Castle. After much hunting we chose the Hawthorne Dene Hotel for its fairly central location and its price, plus it had been rated well on the website. It didn't disappoint. We booked a kingsize room for slightly more money and it was worth it, as the room looked out over the sea and […] we could even see the castle where the wedding was going to be! The bed was so comfortable and the room was pristine clean. We were allowed to check in a little early so we could get ready for the wedding, which was much appreciated. The breakfast was freshly cooked and totally delicious. After we checked out we walked down to the beach, just a few minutes away and had a leisurely coffee at a beach cafe, which is right on the beachfront. All in all we were very happy with our stay. The only critical observation I would make was that the decor, which is in excellent condition and is well maintained, was not quite to our taste. It is very oldy-worldy with lots of old photos and a patterned carpet. However that didn't detract from our stay at all and is merely a matter of personal taste! Đọc thêm

Nice small hotel, cute, typically English decor. Excellent location, close to great beach and 15 mins walk from shops/harbour. Rooms very small, family room had no real bathroom (small toilet/wash basin, and separate shower), no cupboards, so very little room for hanging clothes, towels etc. Excellent breakfast and clean and friendly service.

Please do not expect this to be a hotel, it is really more like a B&B. It is not noisy at night (we had the room facing the car park, instead of the road). The neighbourhood looks pretty safe overall. The host was not very friendly and we were barely acknowledged upon arrival. The room was ok and bathroom was clean. There was some traffic noise during rush hour as it is located on a main road. Very pleasant hotel with nice atmosphere in good neighbourhoud. Family room is quite small with very narrow beds for parents. Walking distance to beach and centre. Good breakfast

I was attracted to this hotel because of the images on this website. It's very nicely decorated with a very homely feel, but not overbearing. A particularly nice touch is the named rather than numbered rooms and each room comes with it's own accompanying bear. Rooms were nicely decorated (in the same style as the rest of the hotel). My room had a wonderful view of the sea with a bay window where I spent some time working after checking in. Bathroom was spacious and felt suitably modern and clean but was in keeping with the rest of the hotel. Short walk to the town or the beach- I chose the latter to go and have dinner that evening.
