Hotel Ariane - Pontorson

The hotel is overpriced for where and what it is. Worse though - the staff vary from indifferent (at best) to unhelpful/borderline rude. Loved visiting Mont St Michel and want to go back there, but would definitely NOT stay at this hotel again!

We stayed in Pontorson to take a day trip to Mont Saint Michel. The Lonely Planet recommends not staying on the Mont itself, though it looked like it would have been a fun and unique experience. The hotel was sufficiently clean and comfortable with free wifi and parking. It is right around the corner from what is a small main street with several restaurant […] options, and we managed to find some nice galettes for dinner. If you're in a car, it is an easy drive to Le Mont, though I think a bus would have been equally easy. There were two downsides of the hotel. 1) The man who checked us in was not overly friendly and was pushy about trying to make us have breakfast. 2) The shower in the top floor room was incredibly awkward, and it was impossible to shower without getting water everywhere. We arrived (2 couples) at 11 p.m., and the hotel was closed, no one at the reception! Had to call hotels.com in the U.S and have them call the owner to open the doors , which he did while yelling at us in French. Spoke with us only in French bet as it turns out he can speak very good English. Watch out!

This hotel was super quaint and had everything that my wife and I needed. Clean, comfortable beds along with clean bathroom and toiler room. It was more than you would expect from such a small hotel in an even smaller town like Pontorson. The location was excellent and less than 10 minutes from parking lots of Mont Saint Michel. This was a bit of a pain because we had no air circulation at night while we were sleeping, and couldnt really open the windows because of the immense amount of flys, mosquitos, spiders etc etc... The hotel wasn't so bad, but the little village of Pontorson is pretty boring. There's literally nothing to do or see in the town. It was fine for us because we wanted a relaxing evening, so we arrived from Bayeux early evening, did some laundry at a laundromat that is about a mile away from the hotel, had dinner and went to bed. But the hotel is just […] across the street from the train station and bus station, so it was easy to get back and hop on the bus to Mont St Michel. Hotel was a bit dark and dingey. missing key items in bath room like shower curtains, toilet roll holders and a bath plug that works. WiFi wasnt strong enough in the rooms so had to keep going to lobby.

The staff was incredibly helpful and spoke english well. They often helped with purchasing tickets and questions about the metro.

Good location just steps from Pontorson train station. Very near the main street with shops. The hotel is newly renovated and everything is new and works well. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel in Pontorson, a charming town close to Mont St. Michel but not in the middle of the maddening tourist hordes there. Hotel rooms are updated, have free parking on the premises, and there is both a restaurant and a breakfast room at the hotel. This is a nice little hotel right next to the train station. You can take a bus to Mont St. Michel for 2.2 euros each way. The walls are a bit thin. Beware that there are no taxis in the area and you can not get from Mont St Michel back to Pontorson after the last bus. Having a car is a must.

Hotel is fine for an overnight trip to mont St Michel. Rooms are quiet, spacious and clean enough. However, cheap sheets, old blankets a Nd what must have been a plastic mattress pad prevented me from sleeping, and isn't that what a hotel is for?

Hotel Ariane was easy to find in a small town of Pontorson, about 10 minutes from Mont St Michel. The staff were friendly and spoke some English, which was a nice supplement to my halting French. In questo viaggio in Francia mie' capitato spesso di trovarmi in hotel che non corrispondessero alla categoria di cui si fregiassero, e questo e' uno di quelli che vanta le 3 stelle ma e' da 2. Le stanze sono decorate in maniera triste ed i bagni sembrano quelli di una casa di Torvaianica; per non parlare delle stanze che affacciano sulla ferrovia: […] sembra di stare sulla banchina in attesa di salire, tanto e' vicino il binario alla finestra.La colazione e' triste come tutto il contesto, nonostante lo sforzo della decorazione della stanza, dal sapore oriente che incontra l'occidente ma in realta' con tutti i mobili fatti a Bali con 4 soldi. Per non parlare della desolazione del paese di Portonson. Tra l'altro, nelle foto sul sito si vede Mont Saint Michel: cosa non vera. Hôtel très moyen, mauvais rapport qualité/prix. Tarifs chambre et petit déjeuner plus élevé qu'une chaine connue d’hôtel 2 étoiles. Notre chambre venait d'étre repeinte et avait une odeur de peinture, le chauffage était insuffisant pour la saison. Habitacion correcta y limpia, no muy grande aunque tiene de todo. El desayuno carísimo por lo que ofrecen, sólo desayunamos el primer dia, al segundo fuimos a un bar cercano dónde por la mitad de precio desayunamos lo mismo. El sitio bastante tranquilo y lo mejor, la cercanía a Mont Saint Michel (9 kmts.)
