St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel - Luân Đôn

We had one night at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel having arrived into St Pancras station on the Eurostar. Breathtaking renovations and restoration work has been done to the hotel which has been brought back to its former glory and is run to a very high standard.

Expected a little more glamour in our room considering the price. The meals, on the other hand, we're expensive but worth every penny. The location can't be beat for convenience to Kings Cross.

I wanted to experience a night at this hotel having seen a documentary on TV which included a section on the restoration of the hotel.It is a unique building which sets it apart from alternatives in the area. St Pancras was on my bucket list to stay. It did not dissappoint. Check in was easy and enabled early for us. We had the most gorgeous afternoon tea, which was explained and enabled every step by the attentive Tam, whose smile was a bonus to our experience. We stayed in one of the Barlow rooms, modern but nicely done with enough space in both the bedroom and bathroom, which has previously been an issue in modern extensions of other London railway hotels. This is an amazing hotel. Worth paying the extra if you can afford it for a special occasion to get a Chambers Club room. Ours overlooked the platform and the Eurostar trains but was very quiet. We had a great time here (the first night after our wedding!). The staff were friendly and efficient (especially Joao - I think - on the front desk). The room was very comfortable. An outstanding building disappointingly run by a company lacking customer focus. The front of house staff & any met in passing were pleasantly engaging, but the bar (the old Booking Hall) seems to specialise in a snooty, superior and unfriendly style. Staff there were just plain rude. Our room was perfectly adequate for this spec of hotel, but was overall […] very 'ordinary' in a new-build wing had a view of slates on the station roof, and nothing more. You have to spend rather more than most people would expect to experience the splendour of the old building. But my big disappointment was about service. They planned upgrade work for the 1st night of our stay, intentionally cutting off the power (inc ventilation and telephone) from 11pm, and later the water. We spent an airless night using torches to find the bathroom...and then they tried to charge for using a bottle of water from the fridge during the disruption! While the hotel general manager later acknowledged they had 'dropped the ball' by choosing not to contact guests to pre-warn them, the front desk duty manager was cold and unapologetic. In such a hotel, it was distressing to find a previous occupant's half eaten sandwich in the room fridge when we checked in to our freshly cleaned(??) room. Similarly, the splendid spa was great; but why routinely leave showers there with no soap in the dispensers? By some distance, this is the best hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in. The building itself is amazing, fantastic on the eyes and so grand. Parking is expensive but no more than anywhere else I've parked in London and well worth it for the experience of having the doorman greet you and park your vehicle for you. From the entrance you're greeted […] by polite, friendly well presented hotel staff who are more than happy to help, taking your luggage and showing you where to go from there. Once inside the positivity continues which can largely be ascribed to the splendour within. The check in staff / receptionist was very helpful and had our luggage taken to our room., offered wake up calls, newspaper etc. and we were shown clearly to our room (it's a huge hotel so this was helpful). Inside the hotel, I couldn't find fault if I wanted to. Our room was immaculate. We arrived quite late in the evening and were very pleased to find the restaurant was still open and serving. The menu is impressive and the food once served, even more so. I highly recommend the steak. As we were travelling on the Eurostar, this was perfectly located, rest assured when they tell you, you won't need a taxi to the station, you really won't. You actually walk into the station from the hotel so it really couldn't be any closer. My wife and I both enjoyed our stay and it went down a great surprise for the wife. What an excellent hotel, the staff were superb, we were upgraded to a better room, a King size bed rather than twins.
