On arrival at 2pm (1hr prior to official check in time) was advised ‘your room is ready would you like to check in now for an extra £20’. I completely understand paying for a faster clean if the room is needed earlier specially but if its already done, its one hour difference and we have stayed on multiple occasions why charge! The parking alone is £29 for overnight which isn’t the hotels problem but regardless its an additional cost without the hotel looking for extra income at any opportunity

Great location but tired looking hotel
We came away for a nice romantic weekend and to celebrate a friend's big birthday. Brighton was lovely but I'm not sure I'd stay in this hotel again. The hotel is pretty tired, and in some places dirty. For the price we paid, we expected more; a better service and better upkeep of the hotel. Positives Hotel is in a great location Discounted parking Staff allowed us to decorate friends room on entry Negatives No email response from hotel prior to visit Reception staff didn't answer phone on several occasions when trying to call hotel prior to visit Parking guidelines on automated message when calling don't correspond with actual instructions Parking lift not working Staff were too busy chatting/joking between themselves on reception for several minutes before noticing that we were waiting to check in Room needed better maintenance (door edging falling off, soap dispenser sticking, shower nob too difficult to move, carpet needed better hoovering) Hairdryer didn't work & took too long for new one to be brought up (housekeeping also unhelpful when following up) Main hall, look up and see lots of fallen tiles from roof in the netting- slightly scary Breakfast - busy and not enough tables, we had to sit at a lower table at the bar which was not set up. No knives and spoons. Had to ask multiple times. Many items on buffet not labelled. Long wait for omelet. Some items not replenished quick enough.

Hotel is getting tired
It was in inauspicious start to the break as the hotel entrance to the car park was closed & once inside the car park the lift in to the hotel was out of order requiring luggage to be carried up 5 flights of stairs Once inside the hotel the staff were as welcoming as ever especially the concierge who is always friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating, but making our way to the room the decor was looking tired with wallpaper peeling & gouges in the skirting board not repainted. The room was more of the same, the dressing table had the laminate lifting & I needed to fix one of the draws before we could use it. The bathroom was worse with small patches of black mould on the tiles & rust & limescale around the shower screen. The toilet didn’t flush properly & the door had been painted over where the water was rotting due to the water, which was topped off with a towel hook that was falling off The room obviously hadn’t been cleaned properly for a while as I found a ladies summer top on the shelf of the wardrobe (we visited in mid-December) which was confirmed on our 3rd day of the stay when by 5 p.m. our room still hadn’t been serviced Whilst it was nice to have an ironing board and iron in the room, the iron looked like it had been dropped & had a broken handle and had not been replaced. Overall the hotel was average at best, the staff were wonderful & the location is great, but the hotel itself is getting tired

Safe and clean weekend away as a single mum of two
Lovely weekend break with my two kids , one teen ager and one todler. Both of them loved the family room with two king size beds. All was spotless everyone in reception was super helpful. One of the evening i could not make the heating to work and straight away the receptionist fixed the issue. The room are soundproof giving you a peaceful enviroment to chill in ! The buffet breakfast superb all cooked fresh, tasty amazing. All the staff smiley and friendly. I loved the lobby. The location right in front of the sea and peer so wonderful !!! Walkable from the train station with two kids at 9 pm and felt safe, but called a taxi to go back and it was only £7 Thank you Leonardo Royal Brighton we will be back ♡ Ps. Only improvement the swimmingpool water a bit too chilly , for non swimmers :)

Easy t9 check in, easy to find the amenities and room. Liked that in the room there was a coffe machine (but flavoured pods and a big no no to me...just wanted a normal coffee!!), extra glasses i.e wine glasses and timblers...nice touch. The shower screens rubber stopper at the bottom was easily pulled off by my youngest and it was vile with grime and mould..this need a proper clean. The main bed infront of the tv i found very hard and had to swap with one of my children. Our room was on the first floor over look the rear entrance which panicked me a little with noise of the public late night /early morning but we never heard a thing. We used the pool with our children but found it a little frowned apon that the kids wanted to play in the water by the other guest.the tiles around the pool were very slippery and it was dirty too. Other than the items above, we enjoyes our stay, location is great and all areas are accessible with a stroller.
