Go somewhere else.
I should’ve listened to some of the other reviews but for some reason thought it’d be different. The room itself was decent, the oceanfront view of the beach was nice, the attendants were very welcoming and kind. But the location, the cleanliness of the hotel, and the overall condition of the building wasn’t very good and certainly not what I had in mind. The hotel itself looks very old and outdated. It most certainly did not feel like a resort of any sort. The bathroom had molding stains all along the ceiling. It’s not a place I would go back to and would not recommend it at all. I wouldn’t consider myself picky at all, but this wasn’t it unfortunately.

Lack of maintenance, poor wifi - disappointing
Basic lack of maintenance hampers the experience. A sliding door leading to the bedroom gets stuck when half closed. The door leading to the balcony is clearly misaligned. It grinds on the floor when opened. Damage to the floor indicates this is a long-term problem. One of three bathroom towels was stained. Wifi was very weak, a big surprise for a room that cost several hundred dollars. Overall very disappointed.

Great view but...
The room had an amazing view, great size and set up. There is construction going on in the restaurant. It was literally all day and sounded like someone banging on both sides of the wall. We were on the 4th floor and the restaurant is on the first. So no relaxing at all which is the main reason we choose our room. There was no notification about the construction before we booked. Front desk only said, sorry about that the heavy machines will stop at 6pm. If we would have known, I would have chosen a different resort. Also, for a Bonvoy Luxury Hotel its lacking. It's a decent hotel, but not Luxury or like the other Bonvoys I've stayed at. Staff was very nice, but not very professional. They also over charged me, different than whats on the receipt, but I’ve emailed them about that and waiting for a reply.

Very nice business stay. This is an older property that is well kept. Comfy bed, spacious room, friendly service throughout. Clean room! My only problem was the wobbly elevator. I thought I was in the middle if an earthquake the first time I used it

I like the free happy hour but I'm sad that it was only 1 hour, and I missed it. but I like the safe location because there is always security at the entrance keeping an eye out of who comes into the hotel. I price is a bit high, but I do like that the bedroom is separate from the Livingroom and that they all have a balcony.

I stayed at Pier South hotel recently and was extremely disappointed. Please be warned before booking! The biggest issue was that we booked an oceanfront room, but upon arrival, we were warned not to swim in the ocean due to RAW SEWAGE in the water. This should be disclosed before check-in, especially at an oceanfront hotel. It was gross and disappointing to learn. The second worst was the idiotic design of our room. It had a large glass panel on the door, letting bright light flood in all night, which made it hard to sleep. There were no amenities in the bathroom—not even soap or shower caps. We've stayed at hotels all along the West Coast, and this one provided the least. The shower was poorly designed and one day we had no hot water. The hotel itself felt old and worn, though clean. The Wi-Fi was unusable, it just would not work or worked so sporadically, it was useless. To make matters worse, the elevators were out of service, so we had to use a smelly, run-down service elevator that was inconveniently located the whole time we were there. The only reason I’m giving this hotel two stars is because the staff was friendly and helpful. I hope they find jobs at a much better establishment. The pool and hot tub were also nice.

The facility and room was less than expected—broken elevator during whole stay, and room was not kept up with maintenance (no weather stripping from room to balcony).
