very 'good-value' central hotel with good breakfast, nice reception area , bar. Not the nicest neighbourhood, but short distanse to Akerselva ( river) , Løkka, central Station and so on. Nice basic room, ok + bed, with own toilet/shower. Windows to open a bit. No fridge/water heater.

Ok, but bad cleaning
The room was fine, but it was not clean. There were crumbles from cookies/bread on the floor, and my kids found old toys in the bed. We asked front desk to clean again while we ate dinner. When we came back, the floor was cleaned, but then we found a plastic container with rotten fruit in the wardrobe. So cleaning was in no way satisfactory.

The hotel is ok but basic. If you just need a bed, it’s fine. The room wasn’t cleaned even if I asked for it, so my wet towels left on the floor as instructed remained in a pile, and I wiped surfaces clean myself. There’s no dressing gown, no shaver socket, not even shampoo, so I had go out and buy some essentials normally provided by the hotel. There was no complimentary tea, coffee or snack. But the breakfast was good and healthy. I was unable to contact the hotel prior my arrival to let them know I was going to check in very late.

My favorite Oslo Hotel
The Anker Hotel offers an amazing view of the city, sunrise or sunset, depending I suppose on which way your room is facing. It is central enough to walk to the station and with a tram stop right outside. The rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable. They range in size, but even the smallest feels big enough to move around and the larger ones feel amost like small suites. The breakfast is expansive with lots of choice, including a gluten free section that I find important. They also do a pretty good coffee (although there are amazing artisan places within a few minutes walk.) The hotel bar, which is sadly closed on Sundays, is a surreal delight, with visiting bands playing shuffleboard and a music selection that probably has no place in a chain hotel but which I enjoyed very much for that reason. I've heard everything from country music to glam rock, from post-punk, to I don't know what. What is more, the staff are attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I am struggling to find a downside. I think the part of town is possibly less salubrious than the centre, but if you come from a city it feels fine. Oh, and there are 13 floors! I have not stayed on the 13th floor yet, but each time I visit I seem to go two higher ....

Bedre enn forventet i forhold til pris
Et rimelig overnattingsalternativ i Oslo. Til den prisen forventer man ikke at tilstand og komfort skal være helt på topp, og det er det heller ikke, men det er heller ikke dårlig. Rommene er sparsommelig møblert, og man ser at det er noen år siden det ble pusset opp. Men så er det vel heller ikke direkte behov for det. Det fungerer greit til formålet. Frokosten var overraskende bra med stort utvalg. En liten forbedring kan være å merke maten litt tydeligere. For eksempel var jordbærsyltetøy og bringebærsyltetøy merket, mens et blåaktig syltetøy hadde ingen merking. Var det blåbær, solbær, eller noe annet? Andre ting var feilmerket. Ellers opplevde man at det kom tobakksrøyk inn når man åpnet vindu for å få frisk luft inn, selv om man bodde i 10. etasje. Vet ikke hvordan dette kan løses, men det var litt plagsomt.
