Firstly, driving here at night is scary, especially at 3am, but on a road-trip from London, that was unavoidable. Also, reception closes at 10pm & so does check-in technically.
But that's part of the whole deal I guess. As Londoner's, we're so used to 24-hour instant gratification that perhaps, we needed to come to somewhere like this.
We phoned the hotel to let them know we were going to miss check-in and they left the keys in an easy to find location so we could get to our room. It took us a few minutes to get our bearings, but once we found our way in, it was near total darkness, so the kids were quite scared. However, from that point onward, this place is spectacular!
The room is awesome, probably the best we've stayed in and beats previous highs in Paris and in Bhurban, Pakistan. But waking up the next morning was the real surprise. The views are just awesome and the family fell in love.
The staff were brilliant with a nice breakfast and really helpful in helping us find our way around. Adelboden is a complete culture shock for a Londoner, but one you have to experience.
As a quick pointer, if you have Halal or special dietary needs, just call ahead at the hotel and you'll find them helpful. There were some things on improve on, but perhaps that's more cultural and would take away from the overall experience. However, the good is sssoooo good, that I have no hesitation in giving a 5-star rating!
