Nice hotel in a nice town. Good that it has parking. Breakfast was also good. No problems at all with our stay. Comfortable room, quieter than might be expected next to the bar.

NIGHT AWAY ON BUSINESS
Food was brill inc the breakfast. Room was on top floor of the pub. Room was clean & tidy. About right for the £. Have to support these pubs as they need tyhe business rather than the National big players that are so impersonal. The staff were attentive as well.

Overnight stay at this lovely pub. Finished food when we arrived but still good enough to get us a meal. Really friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable, spotlessly clean room. Would definitely stay again.

Full English breakfast was good, however, portion got smaller by the day. Rooms were clean but basic. Bar staff were in need of customer service courses, found it very difficult to get them to chat or smile. The locals were very friendly and made us welcome. Will visit again but will stay elsewhere

The food is lovely and the personal great.
Servicing of the bedrooms is ‘if you want it, not the norm’. It would be advantageous to change this.
Slept well in the comfy bed and liked being close to all village amenities and lovely walks nearby.

Great family stay.. would stay again.
Overall great stay. Room was nice and clean. Shower was good. Beds were comfortable. Noise was not a problem from downstairs. Segregated nicely. The bar areas were nice. Staff were friendly. The steak burger meal we had was tasty and filling and the meat was what i like to call proper. Breakfast in the morning was decent. Cooked options with all the traditional items and even added an extra egg for myself. The eggs benadict was also impressive and tasty. The confectionary options were nice too and you had everything you could expect such as cereals, pastries, yogurts and plenty of flavours for the toast to choose from. With drinks such as tea, coffee. Apple juice and orange juice. All situated in a nice cosy room away from the bar area. The children enjoyed having a go on the piano too which was lovely.
Only downside was the room was cold and didnt heat up much but this was mentioned to them with regards to a possible seal fault with the skylight that may have been letting in a little air. But as the weather was on amber alert it probably didnt help.

Inn on the way up with new business owners
This was my first stay at the Cromwell for a number of years. The new business operators were very professional and friendly and are working hard to improve the condition and quality of the accommodation. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and nothing was too much trouble. The locals provide a lively atmosphere and a good range of ales, food and other drinks are available. The pub offers a value for money stay ideal for exploring Dartmoor and not too far from the coast, Exeter or Plymouth.
