Nice place - But Be Prepared for Management Challenges
Overall , the accommodation was lovely. The apartment itself was clean, quiet, and well-equipped with everything I needed. I felt comfortable and safe during the day, though I’d be a bit cautious about going out after dark. If you’re looking for a peaceful and well-maintained place to stay, The Abbey delivers.
However, there’s a caveat: Barsala, the property management company, is incredibly unresponsive. As long as you don’t need to deal with them, you’ll be fine. If anything goes wrong, prepare for frustration. I locked myself out, and despite reaching out to them, Barsala acknowledged my problem and then ghosted me and would not respond to Saundra. Expedia customer service finally got them to respond hours later.
Speaking of Saundra—the bright spot of my stay! She was professional, empathetic, and went above and beyond to solve any problems that came up. Without her, I’m not sure how long I would have been stuck outside.
Another issue to note is the poor communication from Barsala’s team. I called at 3 PM to see if I could check in early, and was told they’d call me back. They never did.
This is a very late check in time don’t expect flexibility.
In summary, while the accommodation itself was great and Saundra was fantastic, Barsala’s management is a serious weak point. If you’re self-sufficient and don’t anticipate needing much help, The Abbey is a solid choice. Just cross your fingers that nothing goes wrong
