Too much noise during the night time due to bar and restaurants . Room was not clean. The floor was very dirty. On the other hand, room was very large and cozy. The breakfast was great.

Hotel location 10/10 Breakfast and cleanliness 10/10 Noise from the club underneath -100/10 The location of the hotel is on strait street which is this gorgeous part of Valletta but at the same time also the noisiest street with loud music playing until 2 am. We stayed on the first floor with balcony facing the street and the whole floor would vibrate from 7pm to 2 am nonstop. No amount of windows and doors help it. Everything else in the room was perfect but with no sleep on vacation it’s hard to enjoy yourself.

I really enjoyed my 4 night stay here, beautiful room, great location, very helpful staff and a wonderful breakfast each day, I would certainly stay here again. Be aware that there is live music in the street outside every night from 9pm through till 12.30, which might not be to everyone's liking, especially if you like a early night.

We loved the hotel & the central location. It’s on a very busy street that’s full of restaurants and bars. There’s loud music that is muted by the doors and windows except Friday night when we could hear a little music, but it was fine. Every employee we had contact with was helpful & very polite. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

All very clean and the breakfast was very good. Comfortable bed. The only downside was the Oxygen Lounge below us on the street that played very loud music and shouting aggressive voices well into and after 2 am. Otherwise a good location in Valletta.

The hotel is in a terrific central location - all your top sightseeing in easy walking distance. It’s smart and comfortable - just aim for a room away from the noise of the bar next door, like mine, 304…. Big range of bars and restaurants on your doorstep.

2/10 Poor

Noisy

Way too much noice at night because of a bar beneath the hotel. They play music so loud half of the night - it almost ruined the trip because we only slept a few hours. The hotel itself is really nice and awesome breakfast and very nice lady at breakfast. Stupid you only get one keycard

Room is nicely appointed in the pedestrian zone near all tourist sites. Hotel is not manned. You check in with a vending machine. The main problem is the hotel is next to a nightclub that plays loud pulsating music from mid-afternoon to after 1;30 am. Room was vibrating and impossible to sleep. No staff to address this with

Nice hotel, wrong location

The hotel is in a nicely rennovated old building in the centre of Valletta, situated on a narrow pedestrian side street (alley) not far from all the sights of the old city. If you're arriving with a lot of luggage, you will need to be prepared to walk about 500 metres up hill - and don't expect the taxi driver to have heard of the place, so check out the location very, very carefully before setting off - it's not clear on the directions, the street numbers are misleading, and the hotel is just a narrow doorway. There is no reception. Check-in is automated, but relatively self explanatory. The machine issues a plastic room key and says it will print out the wi-fi code, which it didn't on my visit. There were two occasions I had to call the reception number for assistance, both times they were responsive and solved my problems promptly (the room safe ran out of power with my possesions locked in it, and the fire alarms went off one afternoon). The rooms are clean, the bed comfy, and the aircon is excellent. The problem with the hotel is its location, directly above a bar/club. There was live music every evening until about 23:00 in the alley outside which was very noisy, then from 23:00 to 01:00 a DJ set/dance music inside the bar. You'll be unlikely to sleep through it depending on which side of the hotel and which floor your room is located. In summary, it's a nice hotel in the wrong location and I really should've done my research and stayed somewhere quieter.

The King Charles Hotel would be a very good hotel for almost every reason except the utterly terrible noise environment. The staff are friendly and attentive when available, although that is only a short period in the morning during the cleaning/breakfast period. Otherwise it's self-check in which worked very well and a mobile number for any issues. Not a problem for us on this trip but if there were a need for reception support it isn't readily available. The breakfast is quite good with many options both hot and cold. To rooms are well presented and generally it is a visually nice hotel. However, and this is a highly significant issue, the hotel is on the busiest and loudest street in Valletta and situated exactly above the very loudest bar on that street. Every afternoon there is a happy hour that begins with loud music and continues on until the early hours. The bass reverberates through the building and you can hear every word of every song. We had to use earplugs and noise cancelling headphones to be able to get to sleep at any point before the early hours, and that wasn't always possible. This is not somewhere you can return to and relax after a long day sightseeing and frankly makes any stay unpleasant. It is a real shame because this is a decent hotel right in the heart of Valletta, but unless you're going to be one of the merrymakers enjoying the party until the early hours it's one to avoid like the plague. Under no circumstances would I stay here again.

Stay was excellent. The breakfast and housekeeping staff were very attentive and accommodating. Food good. Room clean. Location perfect in old town, above bar, loud music at night on weekends. Communication by text message was a challenge -did not receive any replies at all to specific questions, eg checking out, where to store luggage if early. Had to call with WhatsApp for answers. Had trouble with self check in. Message on screen stated something like “check in is invalid” to call a number, instead of saying the room isn’t ready. Caused unnecessary anxiety and concern.

Only some items were available from the menu every day. The music is loud- tv first page after you booked says there are some sound proof options- the music and karaoke sessions go on to at least 2 am- it’s fine if you come back after that or you can sleep with the music otherwise expect a less sleep night

I really liked the hotel. It was in a good location. the staff was wonderful and the breakfast was good. The air conditioning was excellent along with the shower. Great water pressure. The two downfalls and the reason we would not return was 1) the noise level at night lasting until 2-230am. There is a bar next door that plays very loud EDM (Electronic Dance Music) into the morning. The vibration from the music kept us from sleeping. Even my pillow was vibrating from the bass. 2) No receptionist to assist you with checking in, just self check. Found it very confusing. The sign stated there would be a receptionist from 2pm-5pm? daily but we only saw the person once in the 5 days we were there.

So much noise - very nice hotel

Only one star because it is located right over a bar that plays VERY LOUD music half of the night. It was so difficult to sleep and kind of ruined the vacation. The hotel itself is really nice - everything clean and big room and very nice breakfast. So annoying self check in… takes forever and you only get one keycard even though you are two people…
