Good location & the bathroom is pretty spacious compared to most of the other guesthouse in HK. The service rendered was indeed a great disappointment , a not so polite receptionist was not so helpful. Late checking - in is not encouraged, Only till 9.00 pm. We were thankful for them to call us.Anyway it was a pleasant stay with a strategic location & a clean room. Thank you.

An overall less than pleaseant stay for the price
Extended for one night as I was not feeling well, made the booking online and called the Reception to inform them that I have extended my stay for one more additional night. I was promptly informed that I would not be able to stay in the same room and had to check out and go to another building where another room was "prepared" for me. The new room was not very clean and lacked basic amenities such as toilet paper, toiletries or a kettle.

No Rating Hostel
this is definitely not a place to stay for any kind of traveler. No service, condition dirty, poor air condition, very old beds, towels stained, etc..

They should close this place.
We were so frustrated that we had to leave and find other place to stay. To bad that we paid in advance. Bathroom was mouldy, very dirty, no fresh towels, room was filthy, warn out, smelly, A/C was leaking... We do understand that we didn't pay much, but at least they should clean the room time to time.Better stay away from this hostel.

Nice owner of the hotel, Mr. Lee
On late night of my last day before I was taking flight back to my country, I forgot my Tablet in the bedroom. Unfortunately, this hostel has a main gate which can be passed only their guests. the guest will be provided the main gate's key for entering the hostel at night because the owners of the hostel will not stay there 24 hours, they will go back to their home nearby the hostel at night. As my accident, I already checked out and gave hostel's key back to owners. So I could not go inside it again. Luckily there is a local phone for the guests, then I try to call them because it was already midnight, they went back and nobody was in the main room to open the main gate for me. They picked up the phone and they said they will come to open soon. After that I waited for 20 minutes, he, Mr. Lee came tiredly seem like he was running for a long way. So I was so impressed for his action and help. Even thought physically his face looks aggressive and he cannot speak English, but he is very helpful. He tried to help us whatever we asked for. So finally he open the main gate and my bedroom. Then I got my Tablet back and cough my flight on time on that night. I would like to say I was very appreciated.

Horrible stay
I have stayed at many small budget hotels/hostels in this building and around Kowloon and I have never had such a bad experience. The room was dirty and smelled of mold and cigarette smoke, the bathroom was outside the room across from the front desk, the air conditioner barely worked, the bed was very uncomfortable and the bedding was not clean. I tried to switch rooms myself and then hotels.com tried again for me. No other rooms were available. I would have moved to another hotel but was pressed for time. The front desk staff was surly and unpleasant. How this is a two star hotel is beyond me.

Only a shelter when you have nowhere else to go
Good points: 1. Location - near MTR station, bus stop, and markets. 2. Complimentary Wifi, but the signal is not stable especially at night. 3. Flexibility - I was allowed to check in early as the room was available. The owners, Helen Yeh was helpful, and Mr Lee was fine despite language barrier and always-angry personality. Bad Points: 1. The hotel and room condition - Very very tiny, only a solo traveler could survive. The toilet was unacceptable. Seems like the bed and pillow sheet were reused without being cleaned. Guests with allergies must avoid due to dust in the room. 2. The building condition - very old and the lift was slow and bad. Not vey safe. 3. Facility - hair dryer was provided, yet it was for public. That means you have to blow dry your hair at a tiny hall way in front of someone else's rooms.

Cheap for a reason, and that's not necessarily bad
Lucky Hostel is cheap for a reason. It's not exactly the kind of place you'll go to unwind while being pampered. You get a tiny room with barely enough room for the bed, and you get a small bathroom with one of those shower "boxes" attached to the wall, showering all over the toilet and the rest of the bathroom. That's it. The room is reasonably clean, though, which is all that I think really matters. The one major complaint I had was in regards to checking in. This place seems to be run by a husband and wife. I showed up around 10:30 PM, and neither one was available. There was a phone attached to the front door, though. I picked up and dialed 0. I heard some buzzing that seemed to indicate I had dialed the wrong number. I hung up. The phone suddenly rang. A man said he'd come. Sure enough, a guy eventually showed up, looking like he'd stepped out of an 80s hair metal video. He let me in and explained everything in broken English. He then asked for a HK$100 deposit. I wasn't expecting that. He called his wife, who apparently has a better understanding of English. I talked to her. She said I didn't have to worry about the deposit. She then spoke to him, and he thanked me and left. Odd, but hey, at US$30/night, it's hard to feel ripped off. Would I stay again? Sure. Would I recommend it to others? That depends on what they want. If you just need a cheap place to lay your head, you're good. If you need more, you may want to look elsewhere.

Not the cleanest place but comfortable; overall OK
There was no shaving mirror in the bathroom but after some negotiation, one was provided. The place could be cleaner and the room was a bit noisy, but that could be expected given the low price.

Small but fine
A very very small room, but actually fine! We didn't need more than that. Shower was fine, water was hot. The bed was a bit hard, but thats all. In general we were happy - it is after all just a place to sleep! The location is perfect, close to train station and a busy area, close to markets, and even with a 24h busy street outside your door, you didn't get disturbed from noise because you were so far up in the building.

Mongok stay
For me I was alone travelling to Hong Kong . The room is very very small . no room service. However , if you are planning to spend most of your holiday time outside the hotel who cares about room size ? For single person it is okay and located among the posh locality of Mongkok.
