This was our first time at a ryokan. When we arrived, Google maps had us walk from the museum of the Little Prince bus stop across the street and down an alley, which was great. However, it then suggested we turn left down a driveway/small road; don’t do that, continue straight to the main street and then turn left. Upon arrival we were asked to remove our shoes and taken to the welcome room. Here, we were given matcha tea and another slightly sweeter jelly-type food of which I don’t know the name. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful by explaining everything in English. We then chose our yukata to wear during our stay. Next, we were given a tour. We chose the 6PM dinner, which allowed us time to enjoy a soak in the onsen before dinner. The reservation of the private onsen simply consists of writing your room number on the whiteboard timetable outside the onsen. There are two private onsen and a public onsen for each gender for which no reservation was needed. The whole place is very quiet and relaxing. Our room was very clean and had its own smaller onsen out the back door. Since you shower before your soak in the onsen, this is where your actual shower was too. Dinner was served in our room. It is a LOT of food, so be prepared. The beds were comfy and breakfast was served in the Breakfast Room. The staff were very friendly and I would recommend this place.
