Magnifique! 6 stars! Hosts Barry & Jocelyn make you feel you are guests in their own home, and while they encourage you to relax and do your own thing they are always happy to help you with anything ā maps, places to visit, where to eat (Barry will make reservations for you). Among the best places to eat is Domaine de Terrac! Jocelyn produces wonderful four-course evening meals at an exceptionally reasonable price, and Barry keeps a good stock of local drinks, including artisan beers. Every morning he goes out to get the most wonderful pastries for breakfast from a local patisserie. You can choose from about a dozen, and there is also a great choice of loose-leaf teas, as well as (of course!) fresh coffee.
The property is in a quiet hamlet on the side of a valley, with lovely views, and the rooms are very well-appointed. The little touches are too many to mention, but it was great to find tea and (proper) coffee-making facilities in our room (something you cannot assume in continental Europe). There is a large lounge with a plentiful stock of books (mostly English) and DVDs (a player in our room), and you can chill out in the garden and admire the surroundings.
Our holiday was a mix of walking and sight-seeing, and the major attractions of the area, including the amazing cave systems, pretty villages and mountain lakes are all within about an hour or less by car.
We had an exceptional holiday, and were very sorry to have to say goodbye to such amazing hosts!
