8/10 Very good

The property isn't so much dirty as it is old. The building is probably close to 100 years old and it's been a while since it's been upgraded. Despite that, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is very close to the bus/train station as well as numerous sites. Plus it's really inexpensive.

It’s a good location in Rome, walking distance to local attractions and metro. That’s the only highlight. Property is dilapidated not the one in the pictures as described. The bathroom is questionably unsanitary. Lesson learned, when the price is cheap that is what you will get.

2/10 Poor

Walters guest house has a very convenient location, it’s very close to Roma Termi. Overall, the place is disgusting and a huge disappointment. When we arrived, we called the owner and he is a huge scammer along with being extremely rude. He wanted to change my nasty room for an extra price, or according to him, “deal with it”. Online, the place looks like a nice nesting spot, however when we arrived the condition of absolutely everything were horrible. In our stay, we encountered 2 cockroaches, horrible odors, and terrible bedding. The towels were rough, and extremely old. They hurt to dry yourself, they even had holes in them. The shower had mold all over the place, and the rack was so old that it was oxidationing terribly. The furniture is broken, scratched, dusted and stained. The kitchen is horrible, it hasn’t been taken care of in ages. The fridge is okay, however it stained all over and it smells bad. Daily breakfast as advertised is a lie. We didn’t get anything and nobody was there. The tv in the rooms are ripped off the wall with worded hanging out, and the common room Tv is 14 inches probably from 1980. Expedia was not able to help, because the owner didn’t want to give us a refund so we could relocate. This says a lot about the owners character and the fact he doesn’t care for his guests, but he’s in it for all the money he can make. Simply terrible, do yourself a favor and pass this place off your list.

Don’t recommend
The only good thing about Walter Guest House is the location, it’s really close to the metro station. When I arrived there they didn’t even know I scheduled a stay. The staff was nice though. The room was ok, but it was really dirty. There were old soaps in the shower, which shows that they didn’t even clean after the previews guests left. There were bed bugs, I’m full of rashes. The lights didn’t work properly and there was no Wi-Fi. Anyway, I recommend you to spend a little bit more in another place, or a shared Hostel.

Air conditioner does not work. Thanks of fans that protect us against mosquitoes bites. There was not any space for breakfast in and out of room, dirty microwave and kitchen. just good point about this place is its location. Photos are related to the place but do not represent its condition exactly.

Absolutely nothing like what is pictured! Terrible and rude owner, and horrible room. I had to leave in the middle of the night because I was so uncomfortable. Spend a little extra money and stay somewhere else, it will be worth it!!

2/10 Poor

The only good thing was the location of the Guest House. The center and the subway are close by. BUT the accommodation is dirty, very poorly distributed, the services are very unprofessional(chek in-chek out was not in Time). With 3-4 spotters, obviously in 3-4 different places the room allocation is also very strange. Rooms have nothing to do with the picture and some of the promised services were not available( was'nt working TV, Breakfast was a joke, WIFI and heating just sometimes worked, etc.)

This place was so bad I couldn't even stay there and just left. Rooms and bathrooms are dirty and unkempt; staff is very rude and arrogant; the area around the hostel felt very unsafe even during daytime. Don't ruin your vacation in Rome by staying at this place.

Walter Guest house
Quite dated, but close to downtown, metro, walking. Hotel staff friendly, good enough place to stay to see the town. Not much in terms of amenities but perfect for sleeping.

Definitely wouldn’t stay agaib
Location was good. Near to the colosseum, and the AC and fans were very necessary in the heat of Rome. Building had a buzzer than no one answered, we had to call a cell phone and someone came. Attendant asked for my taxes in cash when he clearly had a card machine sitting on his printer. Wifi was there but worked about 10% of the time. Room was old, clean but had seen much better days. We were in the blue room, double ensuite. Bed was two twins pushed together. Fair enough. Room itself was adequate but the bathroom was not fun. Toilet made a very loud sound as it was refilling the tank, must have been the pump I suppose? Anytime you used water there was a loud sound that came out of the pipes multiple times. Shower was clean-ish, but fixtures were falling off. Mouldings were deteriorating, shower head was hanging on its fixture. Water pressure was average. Breakfast supplied was missing milk for the cereal, and buns in a plastic bag. Coffee was bland. Just really cutting costs wherever they could. Everything was cheap, the AC was the best part. The Sri Lankan attendant went through everything with me being very friendly (I’m the husband), but when my wife was getting the coffee he insisted she was doing it wrong and was pushing her hands out of the way and doing it himself. She was not impressed, she’s an intelligent woman. The AC was the best part of this place, along with the price and location. The bad things are all written above.

The room was exactly the opposite of what was shown in the picture; it was a dump - not an exaggeration at all! The room smelled. I had two single metal spring bunk beds from the 60s, the 4 inch mattress was old, the sheets and pillow smelled, there was no wardrobe, the towels provided smelled and were absolutely like rags (my rags at home are in better condition), I had to go through a dirty kitchen to get to the room, the window had bars and the view outside (which was like a little courtyard) had dirty pans, laundry hanging on a the line, the TV was very old (box type) and mounted 8 ft above on a makeshift platform, there was only one dirty chair, the was no desk, the bathroom smelled of urine, the three very tiny dressers were dirty. I arrived early to my originally booked guesthouse just to be told that they had overbooked and informed Expedia. I was on the phone with Expedia for a total of over 10 hours before I finally got booked (the 2nds in a day) into this absolutely deplorable place. It was already almost 10 pm and I was so tired and had no choice. The first rebooking was to another guest house a few blocks away. I walked in the rain with my luggage for three blocks just to find out that guest house didn't exist. The guesthouse staff that overbooked were very helpful and that's where I went back to get some more help after the ordeal. It took another 5 hours before Expedia found me this absolutely sad place. I have much more to say but am out of space.

Not impressed with the 5 Eur linen fee...especially as no towel was provided! But good to have a free breakfast available which i guess cancelled out the linen fee.
