Holiday Inn Express - Layton

we booked this hotel because we have young children and we really looked forward to the pool but it was so cold in the pool room and the water that we all were too cold and my one year old daughter was so cold that I think she became sick after.

The room had trim along the door that was very loose and my toddler ended up cutting her finger on it. When we notified the front desk, they claimed we were lying and there was no loose trim. After arguing with the front desk, they finally sent duct tape up to fix it and never offered to compensate us for their safety issue.

A hot water pipe broke during the 1st night. Thankfully we still had cold water and a microwave to heat a water so a makeshift bath was possible. The gal at the front desk was apologetic and helpful and nice even though I'm sure she had to deal with an overload of grumpy inconvenienced people. It was fixed by the time I got back from work that day.

Unfortunately a water pipe broke in the kitchen over night so there was NO hot water in the morning before my business meeting. I did however extend my stay another night. Hot water returned. Staff was great. and apologetic.

Slamming doors. Bathroom had hair in shower. Carpet peeling at tile area. Small bathroom

Personal was really awesome and a good customer service

So I’m comparing my stay to a previous hotel we had just stayed at. I would say as a whole it was okay. Nothing spectacular. The rooms were okay, sinks not in same area as the commode. The rooms were not quiet, so we got a rough sleep the night we stayed. I’m a big fan of no comforters on the bed because in my mind I worry if they get stripped every night and they had comforters. So immediately we stripped those off but then had next to no blankets. Besides that, it’s probably an older hotel and just felt dated.

It was amazing

While on the surface the hotel is clean, comfortable and nice. However, a bunch of military guys partied to the AM hours, basically took over the third floor, and the hotel just didn’t seem to deal with it. You can’t run a hotel with families and kids and workers just trying to have a good nights rest and be too scared to confront, evict and/or call the police to end an ignorant group’s, and I appreciate their service but that is no excuse for this, purely narcissistic behavior.

The 2 queen suite had 2 rooms so it was nice with children. Breakfast was really nice.
