Exterior is Deceiving; Beware of Outdated Annex
While the exterior is beautiful, what you can't see is the outdated annex where many rooms are located. It looks nothing like the grand exterior of this hotel which was largely disappointing. The walk to our room was very long--it was comical like a maze that kept going and there were a few stairs which is not ideal with luggage. Rooms are lackluster with no standout features. The shower water ran either boiling hot or freezing cold and the tub was very slow to drain, where several inches of water pooled in the tub while taking a shower. We didn't use any of the hotel's amenities so it was frustrating to pay the amenity charge.

No off street parking, had to park 2 blocks away. No vending machines, onsite store closed at 3! Open bar area, very loud, completely over took the hotel foyer, its all you heard. Had beautiful sitting areas to relax, but you cant because of bar noise. Nice indoor pool area, SMALL hot tub, over run by small children. No posted rules. Could not relax there either. Stayed in a "suite" Very small, but clean.

Wonderful stay with some minor issues
Nice accommodations with a historic feel but modern conveniences. Noise proofing between rooms and ceilings could be better as we had a “loud walker” about us and a crying child next to us. As a guest, I should hear everyday activities from my neighbors however, most hotels fail in this endeavor. Staff we encountered were all pleasant. Prices at the bar in the lounge were a bit higher than surrounding areas but you’re paying for convenience. Overall we enjoyed our stay and my comments are simply things we noticed. We would definitely return.

Faded elegance
I think the Viking did a lot with an old property. But maintenance is behind and the place is worn (carpets, paint, cracked vanity, loose toilet, etc.). Our mini suite was large and had 2 TVs. Bed was comfortable but elevated 40” off the floor which was hard to get into. Location is 0.03 miles from the warf which is where most of the action is. 20 minute walk from cliff walk. We were able to find adjacent street parking and avoid the $45 valet fee. I did think $20 for 1 shot of Forrester in the bar was excessive. Checkin was nice.

It was extremely expensive for what was available. For example, two very small cups of clam chowder and one small can of Coke cost me $34.50. There also was a huge charge to park your car. Finally, it needs renovations. In that regard, the old heater in the room was extremely loud.
