I loved the rooftop pool, and the hotel is clean and comfortable enough. I felt the reception was a mixed bag, particularly the woman at the desk who seemed annoyed at everything — annoyed people needed to check and retrieve bags, annoyed people needed help with the elevators, annoyed people needed to check in and check out. I left my cards in New York, so had to pay my deposit in cash. When I was given Mt deposit back, it was $10 short and she seemed unfazed by this. It was a small miscalculation but it was frustrating to be treated as if this were my fault. When I was leaving, it took a long time to get my bags from the storage room — almost 10 minutes.
The hotel is “women’s empowerment themed” and the liberal feminist decor feels tired rather than inspiring. Still I suppose it is a nice break from some of the hypermasculine spaces in DC.
As I said, I very much enjoyed the pool (though it gets a bit crowded so get there early if you want a lounge chair) and the facilities were nice overall. The other front desk staff aside from the younger woman were friendly and helpful.
