I had a lovely stay at the George Inn. The staff were exceptional, very kind and friendly. I had a meal on the first evening, it was delicious.

A beautiful room, so spacious, clean and fresh. Bed was comfy and room warm (albeit a little bit too warm). Quiet too.

The 18th century appearance of this inn evokes old style romanticism. The bar and dining area reflect the same. The food is honest pub fare. The room still smelled fresh from a recent renovation. The room was clean and the super king bed was very comfortable. Definitely worth the visit and keenly priced.

2/10 Poor

Room in disarray. Wardrobe leaning into tiny tv. Couldn’t open both doors because of this. Kettle did not reach plug. No heating on was freezing until we put it on. Toilet floorboards squeaked every time you walked on them. Arrived informed no food being served until February we were there in January long time to wait. They could have informed us when we booked and they knew we were going. So we could make an informed choice. Noise from down stairs until midnight. Now we know why they gave us earplugs. Cars racing in and out of car park all night. Not the best experience.

2/10 Poor

I never leave reviews in fact this is the first one I have ever written. I am not one for complaining!!! We stayed one night at this hotel/pub and it was an absolutely terrible experience. The pub was extremely loud late into the night. At one point there was a car left running in the car park area for a long period, adding to the noise. There was no food served in the pub although this was clearly stated on the website. It also appeared to be a lock-in, and in the early hours of the morning there was a very loud fight directly outside our bedroom door near the pub entrance, which felt unsafe and was incredibly disturbing. The room itself was also poor. One of the bedside lamps did not work, the bed was very uncomfortable, and the pillows were awful. The lock on the bedroom door did not function properly, to the point that we felt so unsafe we had to place items in front of the door before sleeping. On departure, there was no staff member available to hand over the keys. We were forced to exit via the fire exit, walking through rubbish to reach the car park, which was completely unacceptable. Overall, this was a very negative stay and not somewhere I would recommend. We have raised a complaint with Hotels.com, but unfortunately the hotel did not uphold it. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid staying here.
