This is a very decent hotel in Salzburg, but with some big quibbles. The location couldn’t be better, the staff was pleasant enough to pass, and the place is VERY clean and modern.
The rooms are extremely small, but workable for a couple of you don’t mind standing sideways occasionally. If you are 3 even with a child, I can’t think of where you’d have space to even open a third suitcase, much less put another body in the standard room. Perhaps others are larger.
Our biggest complaint is that the mattress was TERRIBLE and the 2 pillows they gave us (one each) were essentially the equivalent of wadding up a t-shirt and putting it in a pillow case. I’ve had better pillows on airplanes. We asked for two more and got them, but even that was inadequate for a good nights sleep. I asked for more the next day and they maxed us out at 6 total, then told us they needed to save some for other guests. Which judging from the quality of the pillows makes sense - everyone needed 6 of them. It was still barely enough, though did add to the comedy of trying to sleep with four pillows. Bonus.
We sleep on an extra firm mattress at home but this one was hard as a rock and almost seemed to bow upward in the middle, so we had to use pillows to level out. More comedy.
We stayed 3 nights and absolutely loved the city, but slept terribly and almost moved hotels at our own expense after the second before deciding to tough it out.
We’ll be back to Salzburg but won’t be staying there again.
