Great little place run by a nice family

Great little find in the middle of nowhere. And for those hunting for Northern Lights, we saw the MOST BEAUTIFUL SHOW here! We didn't think that the lights could look like it does in the movies, but it did here! We got the full green, white, and pink waves of light. In addition, the hotel itself was very comfortable and the price was a great value. It's run by a small family with a farm nearby, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into this place. The breakfast was also a welcome start to the morning. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this place to anyone! The only minor downside is that it is a little difficult to get to, but the value is worth the trip.

Staff are very friendly, food is good. Our room is in the basement, so the air in the room is a little bit stagnant .

Terrible stay

We had a really bad stay at this place, here are the reasons. 1. Firstly this place is in a remote place, the driving road is bad & full of mud, when you save money at the cost, you pay more than that on cleaning up the car! 2. The shared bathroom to room ratio is insane, for 2 floor, you have two bathroom,s we had to wit for hours & at the end we got a filthy wet bathroom. It was simply unusable. 3. The food charges are insane, but quality is bad. 4. At reception its written that they can give early breakfast if requested, when we requested we were asked to pay 1000ISK for that!!!!! Finally we left the place as early as possible. Avoid this!!

Clean and simple

It was a bit off the beaten path, but we found it easily. Nobody was there when we arrived since it was late, but after I called the number using the phone they provided, someone came to show us to our room within 5 minutes. The room was clean, but there were a few flies that got in. We also didn't stay late enough for breakfast the next day so I can't comment on that. It was simple, but all we needed for a night on our journey!

Great Service, Wonderful Owner

Very isolated hotel with nothing to do around area except sightsee unique rock structure in ocean nearby. But this made a good half way point to stay the night between Akureyri and Snaefellsnes Penninsula. We happened to be the only guests that night. We paid extra to have a private bathroom and it looked like 7 or 8 rooms share 2 hall bathrooms. Our room was comfortably sized. The curtains weren't quite wide enough to cover the whole expanse of windows but all the hotels we stayed in for the week in Iceland had issues with light- not much you can do when it doesn't get dark this time of year. The beds squeaked, making noise whenever someone moved. This was the only hotel all week that had washcloths and a blanket long enough for my 6' 5" son. The owner was very nice and friendly. She chatted with us at breakfast to answer our questions about Iceland and tell us about her family and lifestyle in Iceland. She even put out a full breakfast even though we were the only ones there. She made boiled eggs (fresh from their own chickens) and waffles with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. We also had meat, cheese, veggies, toast, cereal, nuts, and chocolate cake. I was surprised she went to so much trouble for only 3 people- excellent customer service!

Middle of Nowhere

In the middle of nowhere on a gravel road with limited things to do in the area. Had good WiFi , good breakfast and friendly staff. Good for overnight if passing.

Near the Troll rock

Great location for the remote Hvitserkur Troll rock (about 11 km from the hotel) but rather Spartan conditions.
