This hotel is in downtown Austin, and is walking distance to Red River Street and backs up to three night clubs. However, it is also right up Neuces from the ARCH, the homeless shelter in Austin. Although I made sure I looked for a hotel with free parking, the parking around this hotel is very limited to on street spots unless you’re willing to pay $45 for your vehicle to be parked in the garage by Valet. The room was clean and small; the bed was comfortable. The hotel provided full size toiletries in the shower but be aware that the shower gel they use smells awful. Before I realized it was the shower gel, I thought there was sewer gas coming up through the drain. Breakfast was definitely the highlight, as they offered cold as well as hot items, including coffee and tea.
One thing to keep in mind about Austin and staying here: 6th Street is very close by and since pedestrian traffic is heavy at times a lot of the side streets are closed at night, including Neuces coming from 6th street, which is only two blocks. You will be making a wide detour to get from 6th back to the hotel.
