Overnight Stay at The Slate

We stayed in room 5, it was clean, cosy, warm, with a comfortable bed. Large shower cubicle, soft towels, complimentary toiletries. Nice view from the window. We had an evening meal, large portions, a bit pricey but absolutely worth it.

Cosy, friendly hotel

Nobody on reception when I arrived but kept entertained by locals in the bar until someone arrived. Room was lovely - comfortable and clean. Sink a little small. Nice that the receptionist called me when I was out to check I had the door code and to take breakfast order. Breakfast was good. Convenient location for Bangor

Birthday treat

I booked the hotel as a treat for my partners birthday. I felt the food was a little pricey for the choices available. Also we were quite a bit away from anything so if we wanted to have a drink together we wwre a bit stuck on places to go. However the room and amenities were great adn staff helpful.

I’ll come again

A lovely one night stay.
Alun, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Main reception is combined with restaurant and bar customers, not very personal welcome. The staff did welcome us kindly, but the access through common areas and kitchen waiting staff traffic was awkward. The steep and high steps too were uncomfortable to ascend and descend with or without luggage.
Antony, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Location was good, hotel was lovely apart from the noise of the railway line. For future this should be recorded on your booking info, the window didn’t open much and the room was too hot to sleep
Hayley, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Pleasant place in lovely location

Lovely little place with plenty of outdoor seating for a drink from the bar. Good location for getting around sightseeing. Breakfast was good and staff were pleasant and polite. Room was nice with ample wardrobe and draw space. Only downside was the room was very hot and the fan didn’t make a great deal of difference. Due to heat in the room we couldn’t shut the window and the noise from the kitchen extractor and the railway line immediately behind caused some sleep disruption. Would stay again but would ask for a different room.

We stayed here last year and we were impressed with this hotel. Our recent stay, did not disappoint- friendly staff, comfortable, clean room and excellent meal with great service. This hotel is a perfect stop over if you have an early ferry the next day, as it is only 25 minutes from the port
Karen, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Room was pristinely clean. Beds were comfortable. Nice en suite bathroom with good shower. Facilities to make a hot drink were replenished on request. Staff were friendly without being intrusive. Didn't eat supper in the restaurant because veggie options were limited. Breakfast was awesome. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone wanting accommodation in the area. Very close to Penrhyn castle and Bangor centre.

The Slate is a hotel full of charm and warmth, clearly run with love and care. We enjoyed a comfortable and relaxed stay. The restaurant serves delicious food and we were in a great location to enjoy north Wales, with lots to do nearby. Thoroughly recommend!
Joanna, 2-night trip

Great life find

A great find and amazing value for money for the single room available for my stay. The only downside is the nearness of the north Wales mainline train service, if you are a light sleeper. I was conscious of a passing train at around 0530 but went back to sleep. Food was excellent - both dinner and breakfast.

Great stay! Excellent location!

Everything was great! Nothing bad to point out. If I had to nit pick, I'd say the "Rock" keyrings are a bit bulky to carry in your trousers. Apart from that nothing else, the Staff was really friendly!
