10/10 Exceptional

Beautiful rooms in great location
The hotel was in a great location facing the bay, and just a few minutes walk from the old town. At night the restaurants/bars just under the hotel come to life, but due to the stone walls of the hotel, we didn't hear a thing. The hotel was beautifully designed, with a nice rooftop terrace. No breakfast, but there's a discount if you ate breakfast at Bee Cafe next door (a very Instagrammable cafe!). Smaragdi herself welcomed us and was very communicative by Whatsapp. No onsite parking but we parked at the Marina parking about 8-10 minutes away. Highly recommend!

10/10 Exceptional

We loved Smaragdi Boutique Hotel. The location is perfect! Our room has a big balcony facing the sea and was in the heart of the shops and restaurants in Rethymno. We were greeted by the boutique owner, Smaragdi and she could not have been more welcoming. She even baked koulourakia in the shared kitchen for us. There was another lovely lady named, Iro, working there and she brought me an aloe vera plant from home for my sunburn. Amazing ladies, beautiful rooms that feel homey. Our room was clean, it was large and had everything we needed. The balcony even had a retractable canopy for shade. Overall best experience, our favorite part of our trip to Greece!

8/10 Very good

Not what we booked, but still nice.
A few days before we were supposed to arrive, I received an email that travelocity and the hotel were not communicating very well and that they had double booked our room, and asked if we would be okay with their only other available room that would fit all of us. I felt like I had little choice at that point. We had originally booked the sea view room--the place is right across the street from the water--and that would have been nice. Instead we were all the way at the back of the hotel, the only light coming through the skylight over the bed up in the loft. Still, the room was perfectly fine, and actually cheaper, though the second bed for our daughter was apparently like a rock, so she shared the somewhat small sofa bed with her brother. Ariadne was very nice and helpful to us in arriving at the hotel. She didn't have a lot of information about the attractions, trying to check google whenever we asked about something, which I had already done. We saw the owner once. She seemed nice enough. No breakfast, but they did leave us some treats in the room which we ate for dinner our first night, since our ferry was late. I would stay here again, but would contact the hotel and make sure everything was confirmed well ahead of time. Also, get there before 8 pm in the summer, because otherwise you can't drive up to the hotel.

2/10 Poor

Boka inte detta boendet
Hotellet var hemskt överlag. Det var smutsigt, mycket var sönder. Det fanns ingen personal tillgång överlag. Ingen reception fanns.

8/10 Very good

Sehr freundliches Personal.
