Will stay again

Old nurses quarters. Refurb to basic level but very clean and one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in

Lovely large room with unique fun decor. In a quiet and beautiful setting, walking distance from town for dinner. Good value.

We loved the atmosphere of the property. It was so well looked after, clean and athentic. The manager, Dean, was welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us. We will be back again, and looking forward to it. The building was a stones throw from the asylum for the evening activites which made for a great combo.

Great location, great (heritage) building, great rooms. Minor glitches were remedied quickly and cheerfully. However the lack of Wifi in rooms needs attention.
John W, 4-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

We loved everything about the building, including the authentic art deco restoration, the relaxed vibe, the beautiful grounds and the short drive from Linaker into town which each time provided a gorgeous view of the centre of town. The manager Dean was professional, helpful and thoughtful and all in all, a real treasure.

6/10 Good

Very dated accomodation but clean….not worth the almost $200 to stay here though…probably because accomodation was scarce I suspect! A lot of creaking noises from the floor above made sleeping difficult, especially after the ghost tour at the lunatic asylum!

Lovely owner and welcoming. A bit run down of the building. Clean laundry bags seen all in front desk. Easy access to room. Enter room and hallway of our level room floor not cleaned. Fly screen was broken and not safe for a child. Bathroom cleaned and enough of what we needed for a night. A bit disappointed for the amount we paid for.

Amazing customer service from Deano! Not who I’d normally expect on a concierge desk, but wow! He’s got so much personality! He knows his job and does it well. The who venue looks a little haunted which was cool with the ghost tours of the asylum nearby. The place is neat and tidy. Happy to have stayed hear.

The most important thing about this property is simply that it is based within an historic mental asylum precinct, so it's kind of fun. (I took my teenage kids). This building is art deco style and very well kept, but includes thick metal doors in The Shining-style corridors, which can still be opened and closed and bolted, and would once have been used for the protection of staff. The asylum precinct is large and various buildings have been similarly repurposed and the grounds and gardens are very beautiful and well-maintained. There are several themed activities including a ghost tour and escape room available, though not on the night we were there. This particular place didn't offer any meals but was otherwise comfortable and the reception guy had plenty of personality. Just up the hill from the incredibly preserved gold rush town of Beechworth, all amenities are available including various dining options, shopping, etc.

I chose to stay at Linaker Nurse’s Quarters because I was intrigued by how they have set this up as a motel. Motel guests definitely step back in time as they enter through to the foyer. The room was spacious with separate bathroom and living area which is modestly furnished, but this would have been reminiscent to the era. Microwave, toaster, kettle and TV are all clean and worked well. Tes/coffee/milk etc provided. Bathroom had a great shower and decor was befitting the era as well. Basic supplies were provided which was great as hubby forgot his toothbrush. The bedroom boasted a very comfortable bed which was great after a long days driving. Other than the bed, there were no modern additions to this room and the large wardrobe was sizeable enough to fit your clothes, suitcases and picnic basket if you have one. The communal lounge is photo worthy and all that was missing was that the reception staff were not dressed to reflect the former use of this site. That would have been great. For meals, it was a short stroll or even shorter drive back into town for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Overall this was affordable accommodation for anyone on a budget, it was quirky, we felt safe and had a great nights sleep.

The art deco building is lovely, have stayed there 6years ago. The place has new owner and is looking very tired and run down. There is no way to contact them as phone number is for hotel down road and email adios not monitored so you cannot submit feedback. The guy running place was hard to find as I rang bell half dozen times and he was nowhere to be seen. We got there just after 2pm rooms were freezing and only had small wall heaters. You would think they would turn them on when they have rooms booked. It's middle of winter in Victoria it's not warm it's cold to freezing outside. My daughter and I had to clean down all surfaces which were covered with thick dust. There was cobwebs and broken furniture. The sheets on bed looked dirty I waited to talk to manager as he was busy with arriving guests, by time everyone was checked in he was gone. I paid over $170 a night I expected something a lot better considering they don't even do breakfast. Very disappointed and wanted part refund which they won't do. Be careful as you don't get refund if not happy or you want to cancel a night. Would only give it half 🌟

Awesome vibes, loud rooms

Such an interesting hotel, art deco style and history is fascinating. Comfortable beds and great check in experience. No soap in bathrooms and shower is often lukewarm. Can hear other rooms very clearly, so if another room is talking loudly or having a late night party you will hear every bit of it. The staff (Deano) were amazing and when I called to complain about another room having a party at 3am, they immediately picked up the phone and sorted it. Highly recommend staying here for the history, location, and vibe. Bring your own soap and ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

This property was just so enchanting because of the history that surrounds it. The bed was comfortable, the shower and water was strong and hot. We enjoyed our stay, and we must say that, Deano was a very attentive host. I would recommend the Nurses Quarters to all who are thinking of staying in the area.
