We enjoyed the stay, and the food was great. We drove 30 minutes to the zoo and a floral farm, as there was not really much to see or do in the immediate vicinity.

Excellent customer service, beautiful gardens, great Japanese breakfast, free parking and wifi, and a nice onsen bath all included in room price. Our tatami room was very spacious and quiet. The only improvement we recommend is better air conditioning, but keeping the window open at night maintained our room temperature comfortable.

A very nice and affordable Ryokan
Excellent experience in every manner. But curtainless Japanese paper window might not suit city people when sun rises around 4:00am in the morning.

Great: Service and Food, Bad: Location and design
The staff were the highlight of this Ryokan, incredibly accommodating and kind, although no one spoke any English. As other reviewers have said, the hotel itself feels somewhat old, and not in a pleasant way. It has a faint musty smell and needs updating. It was less traditional than other Ryokans I stayed in, the entry, common areas, and hallways were identical to a Western-style hotel, and only the rooms were done in traditional Japanese style. Despite this, the restaurant was fantastic, I ate dinner there both nights even though it was not included. Everything was delicious. The included breakfasts had more food than I could ever dream of eating with a huge amount of variety. It was very enjoyable. The location left something to be desired, not near anything, you need a car to get anywhere.

Great option in Asahikawa
Came here after a day of skiing in Kamuy Ski Links. The place was absolutely gorgeous with great accommodations in traditional Japanese style. The service, onsen, breakfast, everything was great. The ryokan is a bit far from downtown Asahikawa but we had a car so not an issue. Will stay here again

Nice stay at traditional Japanese inn in Asahikawa
The rooms were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and gave us a good start to our days. The onsen warmed up our cold bodies each night and enabled us to sleep very well. It was nice to stay within the quiet neighbourhood where the inn is.

Memorable experience
Very clean and well presented family run large size ryokan. Outstanding service , showed excellent Japanese hospitality. Food was great, the third generation owner greeted us at dinner. The son spoke very good English. I saw him left some feeds outside in the open car park during breakfast for birds, and birds came. The small shop sells nice stuff that were clearly selected by the owners. In all, if you want to experience Japanese culture and have the western comfort , this place is worth a stay. With onsens too.

Excellent customer service and big rooms
We were a group of 5 who stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The staff helped us with our luggages to the rooms, and when we changed room to a bigger room on the second night, they moved our luggages for us as well. The staff also helped us cut up the melons we bought from the supermarket. Excellent service which is very commendable. The rooms were clean and the toilet was very modern compared to other ryokans. Jacuzzi in the onsen was also nice. The location is easy to find, but recommended only if you have a car because it's not in town itself. The soba restaurant downstairs is also excellent. Only downside is that you need to find parking when you go to town, but my advice if you want to walk around downtown is to check out the restaurants that you want to go to first, because they usually have free parking. Overall perfect experience staying here, would highly recommend.

The best ryokan in our trip
Ryokan sensyoan is a family business, and is now managed by the 3rd and 4th generation. There is a lot of love and history in this place, and they try to manage this place as closely as it was back then. Having stayed in mostly ryokans this trip, I can safely say that this one is the best one out of all. The room that we had was spacious and had an amazing view of their japanese garden. There were both indoor and outdoor onsens. As a small ryokan with only 16 guestrooms, they are able to customize the service a lot, and ensure that their guests feel special. Privacy was also a great plus because of the size of the ryokan. The most noteworthy experience was the Kaiseki dinner, it was AMAZING, the most unforgettable culinary experience that we've had. The quality was top notch and was probably the best meal we had in our 16 day trip in Hokkaido. I would recommend Ryokan Sensyoen, not just as a place to stay, but for the experience itself of staying in a traditional japanese ryokan!

Amazing stay at a uphill with Fantastic view!
We all love our Ryokan Sensyoen stay for the room is very spacious for a family of 5 - 6 pax. There is living area, dining area and sleeping area. Came with Tea making set and love the green tea aroma and refreshing taste!! We are staying on the 4th storey (highest) where Ryokan Sensyoen is located on the uphill. The view overlooking the town area was lovely, night view is fabulous! We should have stayed at least 3 days or more to enjoy the room stay with the scenic view!!!
