Koh Kong is the capital of Koh Kong Province, which is roughly 10 km from the Thai border. The Kah Bpow River flows through the town and Smach Meanchey district by the Gulf of Thailand. Travelling to Koh Kong is made easy by the Thai-Cambodian Bridge, and you can easily reach the casinos close to the border post.

Popular activities include exploring the island and trekking up the Cardamom Mountains. Guided tours to the Koh Sdach archipelago may last a couple of days. If you plan to do so, most booking offices for these services are on the riverfront road. Koh Totang is also popular for nature adventures like snorkelling, diving overnight camps, night canyon adventures and guided waterfall trekking.

    The Kbal Chhay Falls provide a remarkable sight for visitors but there many other waterfalls in Koh Kong to explore. The monsoon season sees rivers filling up and creating magnificent sights at waterfalls in the Cardamom Mountains. If you want to explore one of them, the Tatai Waterfalls are among the easiest to reach. The waterfalls have 2 tiers and drop from about 6 metres and 15 metres respectively. Other impressive waterfalls include Koh Por which is studded with massive boulders and rocks with giant gorges surrounded by jungle.

    The Cham Yeam border of Thailand is located at a distance of 10 km and can be crossed with the help of motos and taxis (shared or single). You may have to bargain with the drivers waiting to charge too much at the border area to come down to a fair price for both parties.
