8/10 Very good

The Red Lion is ideally situated in Bakewell, although there is no parking at the accommodation, there is plenty nearby. The only negative comment id make about the accommodation is the double bed is very small, other than that the rooms are very clean etc The town is very quiet, and there's not a lot happening on an evening

Nice traditional pub
Well placed in centre of Bakewell. Friendly staff. Nice large double bedroom with en suite. As they don't serve breakfast there were a couple of complimentary porridge pots and breakfast biscuits. Tea and coffee making facilities with plenty of t-bags, milk, coffee and hot chocolate sachets with packets of biscuits. Hallway outside room decoration was looking a bit tired. Had a very nice evening meal in the pub

Lovely area disappointing hotel.
Hotel Red Lion locked at 10.00pm had to access room via steep concrete & metal steps. To a key pad door which didn’t always open first time. Absolutely no sort of breakfast served early morning. No facilities for checking out had to take all luggage down steep concrete steps & leave key in door as front door was locked. Other B&Bs usually make bed each day, this wasn’t done. No parking near hotel. Tried to find overnight car park but none near by. Was informed you could book parking on line unable to do it. Beautiful area lovely walks & river. Close to other Beauty spots. Chatsworth house well worth a visit. Also Eyam & Matlock.

overall, 4 out of 5. Would stay again. Thanks
Great pub in a beautiful village. Very cosy bar area with friendly staff, people and dogs. The room itself was very comfortable and warm. However, we only had enough milk for 2 cups of tea, and only 3 'normal' tea bags. We tried to get more but the downstairs door was locked until 8:30am. We tried again at 9am but the door was still locked. The only way to exit was the fire escape, which we had to take at 10:00am as that was check out time - the downstairs door was still locked. To make matters worse, it had snowed over night making the fire escape a slippery danger zone - not so good for my girldfriend's bad achilles and probably also not so good for elderly guests etc. overall, 4 out of 5. Would stay again. Thanks

You have to be kidding: very poor value for money.
Our room at the Red Lion was nice and comfortable but there were many other problems: i) there was no reliable internet service; ii) there was no breakfast; iii) the kitchen stopped serving dinner at 7.00. When we came down at 7.15, they said they would fire up the kitchen again!; iv) the front door was closed until 12.0 noon which meant we had to come and go in the morning via the fire escape although we had been told that the front door would be opened at 8.30am. This was very very poor value for L164 per night (pounds sterling)l

Great area. Nice staff. The rooms are above a pub, so be prepared for everything! Very and I repeat VERY thin walls.

Great little find
Last minute night away. Great welcome and accompanied to the room on check in. Nice touches of fresh water, coffee and even a Bakewell tart! I must say the bed and bedding are the comfiest ever, I wanted to take it home. Only downside was the walls are pretty thin which can’t be helped, we had a group of noisy boys next door who disturbed us at 4am!! The owner was made aware and was very apologetic. All in all I would definitely stay here again.

Disappointed that the quality didnt match the cost
For the price charged for this double deluxe room we had certain expectations especially as it was on a room only basis. On the positive side, the bed was clean and comfortable and the room warm. On arrival we were told there is no onsite parking but we could park for free at their sister pub approximately 2 minutes walk away. We were provided with a bottle of fresh water and 1 small bakewell tart (curtesy of Mr Kipling). The room was decorated to a reasonable standard but had one area tge feature wall colour had been scratched exposing the previous lighter colour. The bedding and towels were of a good standard and there were plenty of toiletries provided. However on the negative side the was basin had 2 cracks in it, the shower tray had several chips in it and the tiles surrounding the basin had a big chip out of one corner and alas the hair dryer provided didnt work. The hair dryer was reported and replaced however rather than automatically replenishing our tea, coffee, milk and biscuits each day (we stayed 2 nights) we had to go and ask as no one entered our room to service it. We ate in the pub on our first night and found the food to be well presented, hot and of reasonable quality. So to conclude, our experience was somewhat spoilt by a lack of effort and attention to rectifying issues.

Night away
Customer service really poor waited a while to be booked in, room was ok. Went into the bar to get a drink bar staff nowhere to be seen. Went elsewhere and ended up in the bar and was told would we like to go elsewhere so we can close early! Not made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was awful no fruit juice offered and no butter for toast, full English not hot just warm like it had been standing, will not be going back here !
