I want to begin by giving some context to our opinion to make this a fair review. My wife and I had just travelled from Athens where we stayed in a very nice 5* hotel where we had been pampered for 6 days.
Our 1st impression of Kalamaki Beach was that the place looked tired. Some effort has been made to modernise the reception, bar and dining areas, but the accommodation levels and hallways didn't look like they had been altered since the 70's. Our room was basic and the bathroom again was in serious need of a makeover. That said, it was a sea view room and the view was beautiful, across the garden, pool and straight out to the Saronic Gulf. The hotel is ideally located for trips to Corinth, Loutraki and Epidaurus, but we would say that you definitely need a car if you are staying here.
We found all the staff to be very kind friendly and attentive. We had opted to stay here half board and there in lies our primary issue with this place. The food was not good, there were one or two decent dishes in our 4 night stay, but most of the hot options were left out without proper facilities to keep them warm. our stay was in April and the hotel was very quiet, so we understand that this can make timing of food preparation quantities an issue, but the quality of food was pretty poor regardless.
In summary, Good location, beautiful views and lovely staff, but the place needs some financial investment and a rethink on the menu and food preparation.
