The hotel is dated and has a number of people hanging around that are not employed by the hotel and you get the impression that they are up to something they shouldn’t be.

Terrible condition, smelly and unwelcoming
Stayed for a business trip for 1 night. On Arrival a large group where sitting and blocking the entrance drinking and smoking with little children running around. turns out the hotel houses vulnerable people. During the checkin the member of staff had no energy or enthusiasm very bland, with old food covered in flies on the desk. Room smelt of smoke, had spider webs in all the corners, water still in kettle, loose tea bags on the side (not in foil wraps) mould in bathroom that I easily wiped away. The room Just generally hadn't been properly cleaned.

One night stop.
Accommodation was clean and well presented. However, there were a lot of people moving around all through the night. Doors banging and loud conversations. Also, there was a continuous putrid smell of stale smoke. To top it off, the fire alarm went off at 7am.

Most probably was a good place in its day. BUT now very run down (rooms and corridors). My room clearly had a water leak or something as carpet was very damp in the corner of the room ( under the only chair), Not the cleanest room and did not feel like using the shower. Only £50 but glad to get out of there and did not wait around for breakfast although I am told the food is good.

2/10 Poor

Very disappointed, we arrived at 3:15 pm (checking was from 2 pm) no one there apart from the Gardner and chef, then a lady arrived, after taking payment we were told that they were still housing vulnerable (!!) people, they were smoking everywhere, slamming doors, arguing (from 11:00pm until 5:30 am). The bed wasn’t made, we had to clean the room (at our expense) before we could use it. Cigarettes butts under the radiator. Bathroom extractor didn’t work. Then on the last night after a lot of noise from the other rooms, at 10:15 pm the fire alarm went off for about two minutes but nothing happen. As we had a 6hr drive the next day, we left. When we retuned the next day to check out (like on arrival) no one there apart from the chef, who took the card key said thanks and walked off. Should not be taking paying public costumers if still housing (vulnerable) people.

On arrival at reception we were issued a card key and informed where to go , we entered the building which seemed to be under refurbishment (hopefully), it is very tired looking and dated, the room its self looked clean with fresh towels and bed linen but absolutely stank of cigarette smoke, the room had recently been painted but the smoke detector was heavily stained with nicotine ,we opened the windows to try and reduce the odour but the windows dont have any security so we were unable to leave them open whilst we went for a meal, with being ground floor at night we couldnt safely leave the windows open on a catch, the bed comfort was terrible, like a blow up mattress, when we came to check out the reception was closed @ 8.40am, all in all not a pleasant review but it needs a major improvement at £50 per night to warrant us ever returning

Paid for a one night stay including breakfast. They decided at the last minute that they were not going to provide us with breakfast but then refused to knock this off our bill as it was booked through Expedia. They offered to knock it off an evening meal that we were not even staying for which was helpful! The woman on reception had an attitude like she was on death row and just about summed up my feelings about the place. Even if you do not like your job, try and crack a smile, you work in reception providing customer service. Having said that, the place was very clean and was a comfortable stay. I did not rate the clientele very highly either, I am starting to believe the rumours that this is the place that they send the ex convicts following their release. 3/5 - Average!

Poor
The room was dirty, bathroom disappointing. No breakfast available. The room smelled musty, and the corridors smelled of cigarette smoke. The hotel were housing a number of homeless people, who despite being pleasant and polite, were very noisy. The bed was uncomfortable and there was an empty pizza box in one of the drawers, showing that the room had not been cleaned properly.

Poor standards
This was a terrible experience. We checked in and headed to room to drop off bags as visiting family. At 4pm in afternoon people hanging round the main doors in dressing gowns- smoking. Room right near entrance so could hear everything. Met immediately with Filthy carpet, horrible damp smell, dusty bedside tables. Left luggage and was met outside by neighbour for the night who was drunk. Returned later in evening after looking around to see if anywhere else available, to more people sat outside in bed attire smoking. Could not sleep as constant noise in corridor. Neighbour up all night in and out of his room banging door. At 4am on went his music and TV. No toilet roll in bathroom. Had to purchase as no one around to ask. No hot water had to boil kettle to wash. No covid 19 sanitiser anywhere. Sign on door saying police were aware of large groups congregating in hotel. Generally felt unsafe but if you have nowhere else to go what can you do. Needless to say this was a dreadful experience. It could be a very good hotel but is let down by cleanliness and clientele. Many years ago this was a nice place but seems to have lost its way.

dont stay here
Booked last minute as I was on a long journey and tired. Although my booking was accepted and no answer on the hotel phone number. Having spent 2 hours calling them. I find out that they do not accept check in after 11pm. So lost my money. What a scam. Takes your money but won’t communicate with you.

Disappointing
Book in was ok we came back to the room late as went to a new year's Eve party, the floor in the bathroom had hairs and dust over it. The mattress was rock hard I couldn't sleep so ended up having a bath at 330am the end of the bath was dusty and had hairs on it. The shower was let's say.... Pathetic!! The bedside lamps didn't work. Overall very disappointed with the cleanliness and comfort of the room

Room good, clean ,very quiet , comfortable, warm. Breakfast ample. Service good. A sensible basic hotel - nothing fancy but quite adequate. Rooms not in main hotel block - a short walk away.
