A mixed bag.
The good:
- Location on the harbour
- Bright lobby, grand entrance
- Well sized rooms
- Balcony (albeit small and no table)
- Restaurant and coffee shop on site
- Basement parking
- Cleanliness of public areas
- Comfortable firm bed, soft pillows. Huge bed!
The bad:
- Tired decor, in need of updating
- Carpets in bedroom not particularly clean
- Dated bathroom with no detachable shower head
- Strange redundant space in the corner of the room beside balcony (no idea what it was for)
- Noisy second night stay, poorly dealt with
My major gripe with the hotel was noise related. Loud music with heavy bass played until 1am Sunday morning (a wedding). We were on the 6th floor and it was impossible to sleep. We called reception to complain - they insisted it would end by midnight. I pointed out the hotel has a quiet hours policy, the website explicitly states guests can be ejected / financially liable for hotel losses incurred through noise disruption after 10pm. Why does the rule not apply to the hotel itself?! As I've communicated to The Grand Pacific, sadly they have prioritised wedding guests & the income derived from this function over the comfort of all other guests. The number 1 purpose of a hotel is to provide a comfortable night's sleep - I am sorry Grand Pacific, you've totally failed in this regard & I would be hesitant to return.
