The Krizik Musical Fountain is one of the main features of the Výstaviště Praha (Exhibition Grounds) in Prague's Bubeneč district. Inventor František Křižík built it in 1891 for the Prague Jubilee Exhibition, though the technological features were obviously added later. You can watch a spectacular show featuring almost 3,000 water jets and over 1,000 lights.

Besides displaying the synchronised movement of water, lights, and sound, the Krizik Musical Fountain also serves as the backdrop of ballet, modern dance, and musical performances. Seats get filled up fast, so it’s a good idea to check its official schedule before your trip.

The Petrin Lookout Tower rises 64 metres above Petrin Hill, located west of Vltava River. It was modelled after France's Eiffel Tower and, like the Křižík Fountain, it was built in time for the 1891 Prague Jubilee Exhibition.

You can enjoy views of the nearby Saint Lawrence Church, Prague Castle, and the Žižkov Television Tower from the top. On a clear day, you can even see the peak of the Sněžka Mountain, which borders Poland. There are 299 steps from the base leading to the observation deck, but you can also get there via elevator. Opening hours for the Petrin Lookout Tower are longer outside the winter months. A funicular or cable car can take you from Lesser Town to Petrin Hill.

The Prague National Theatre is found east of the Vltava River, just next to Legion Bridge. The majestic venue was built with people's funds collected nationwide and completed in 1881. Over 2 kg of 24-carat gold were used for its shiny roof. Its interior is just as impressive with its stately gold and red decor, a gilded chandelier, and painted ceilings.

Shows can run from a little over 1 hour (orchestra performances) to nearly 3 hours (operas). For operas in German, French, or Italian, a screen above the stage displays Czech and English translations. The theatre features works of classic masters and contemporary artists. Visit its website to learn about its line-up of shows ahead of your trip and book a seat.

The Royal Theatre and Club Chic puts on a neo-burlesque show that features colourful and elaborate costumes, upbeat music, and dramatic lighting. The building originally opened as a cinema in the 1920s. Since most of the original furniture and fittings (including the elaborate lighting and stained-glass windows) are still intact, stepping into the theatre is like returning to the time when the country first regained independence.

The Prague Burlesque troupe enlivens the redesigned interior with modern art deco and baroque elements. The Royal Theatre and Club Chic also hosts family-friendly performances throughout the year, so check its official website for the latest showtimes.

The Black Light Theatre is the brainchild of late theatre director Jiri Srnec, who first showed it off to the world in 1959. Black curtains, UV light and fluorescent costumes create visual illusions to present a witty story with no dialogue.

Actors who dress in black and hide in the shadows are crucial in creating the "magic" of moving props that seem to float in the air, from the audience's point of view. The family-friendly shows last for 90 minutes, making it a great after-dinner option in Prague. Note that the Black Theatre of Jiri Srnec follows a free-seating policy, so get there early for the best seats.

Charles Bridge connects the Old and New Towns with Lesser Town. Take a late-night stroll to see how streetlamps give a special charm to this iconic 13th-century bridge. You can get a night-time view of Prague Castle and the 30 statues of saints along the 516-metre stone pedestrian bridge from 9 pm onwards, when there are fewer tourists. You're also likely to find pop-up souvenir stalls and street musicians as the evening wears on.

There are many pubs and clubs to visit around the bridge, if you’d like to party the night away. These include the 5-level Kalovy Lázně, which is considered the largest in Central Europe. There's also Klub Lavka, Zlaty Strom Bar & Music Club, and Blue Light Bar.
