Unfortunately, despite the good reviews this Home2 Suites had, my experience was not up to par.
When we arrived, there were immediately a few problems with the room. The desk chair was beyond dirty to the point where we were not able to use it. The dishwasher had a full load of dishes not unloaded. There was hair in the shower sitting on the drain. The comforter had marks on the end of it. It did not seem like it was thoroughly cleaned.
When the hotel reached out to see how we were doing, I listed the problems and asked to receive cleaning the following day even though it is normally done every other day. They added our room to the list for Sunday cleaning. When housekeeping came at 10:40AM, I asked them to return as we were getting ready to leave at 11:00AM. They said they would try to, yet nobody returned to clean or fix the problems.
Additionally, as this hotel is downtown Chicago, I expected some form of security. It said on the entrance doors that the doors were locked 24/7 for security and a keycard was needed for entrance, yet this is not true as the doors were always open and we never used our card to get in. If the statement of the doors being locked is published, then it needs to be true and not simply there for design.
Very disappointed in the service we received. It seemed like our concerns were overlooked and for a hotel whose mission statement is “clean, comfortable accommodations”, our needs and expectations were not met.
