I went out on a limb by booking the studio apartment rather than a typical hotel for a business trip to Madrid. This was a bad decision. The location of the apartment is great, right on the Plaza Mayor, one of the main squares in Madrid. It's a short walk to the Sol or Opera metro stations. There are tons of restaurants, stores, bars, and events nearby. However, this rental had one big problem and several smaller problems. The big problem: There are no windows in the studio! Looking back, this was in fine print in the booking confirmation, so it's possible I missed this fact when booking. But really, I can't believe this is even legal. The small apartment felt like a cell. There was no way to tell whether it was day or night outside. It made for a terrible experience. The smaller problems: Communication before checking in was bad. I asked questions, and also tried to confirm plans after my travel changed, but never got a response. The walls were covered in dirt and smudges. Upon checking in, the trash was overflowing (to their credit, they came up and emptied it. That was the single time I got any response). There was only one roll of toilet paper in the room. I asked to get more, but no response. I had to go and buy my own toilet paper. I will give credit that the furnishings were generally modern and comfortable. There were plenty of dishes for 1 or 2 people. The washing machine worked (although drying was very slow, and detergent was not provided).
In a good location but there were no windows in any part of the room. Maybe we just got the worst room but it was a bit claustrophobic to be in there. Also the pillows definitely need an update, not comfortable at all :(
The service was fantastic! We had a problem with our booking and ended up with two different rooms. Our host was so easy to work with. They even moved our luggage for us from one room to the next without any issues. So kind as and answered all questions quickly using Whatsup app. Highly recommend!
The location is quite good. Near plaza mayor. However, there is limited hot water.
It was in the center of Madrid. Walking distance to everything. There is no housekeeping at all. It is not a hotel, but an apartment, therefore you may need to buy things like your own toilet paper and wash your bath towels, etc. My wife and I stayed for a full 2 weeks and for the the most part it was really a good place to stay. A little small, especially the toilet area, but good.
We stayed in Madrid only one night so the location for what we wanted was perfect! The apartment is really small, but it has everything needed. It worked for us!
central location close to three metro stops strategically located in the city
So the property is @ the heart of Plaza Mayor and is very nice - very well done and maintained on the inside - loved the place. And was furnished with the basic needs. What did not go very well, in fact was terrible is the check in process. Looks like there are multiple people involved in the booking process and getting the key to the place was horrible - their internal communication between the various people involved (and there seems to be many of them) had failed (they had written down my name wrong) and the store where I was asked to pick up the key refused to give us the key, in spite of showing the Expedia booking as well as all the communication printouts. And in spite of talking to the owner of the property who was no help (he just said booking was for someone else and refused to look into the issue) - had to wait outside a store for 30+ minutes while we were trying to get this resolved... and the phone listed in Expedia would just go to VM or continuous ringing with no answer - so don't trust the phone number listed in Expedia. And Expedia was no help either - had to make an international call paying exorbitant prices and Expedia automated system just put me on hold for more than 10 minutes... could not even reach a representative. Overall, it was a terrible check in experience.
Is very close to plaza mayor, very close to all the most popular plces in madrid.
