The Watergate was a phenomenal experience, however it was quite disturbing the lack of a visible presence of Blacks who are descendants of the American enslaved working in the establishment, not even in housekeeping.
The lack of this demographic presence raises the question is the management circumventing hiring this sector by hiring foreign born people of color (POC), even from Turkey, to camouflage their discriminatory practices against ADOS (American Descendants of Slaves) people.
Additionally, I’m mobility challenged and require assistance. When my granddaughter came to pick me up the doormen were very abrupt with her as she waited for me. Because I stayed for 4 days and use a mobile scooter they were all aware of my limitations. Possibly that particular gentleman wasn’t on duty those 4 days and wasn’t aware of my situation. However, if that was the case, there was no excuse for his rudeness to my granddaughter.
Otherwise, the experience was delightful. And the spa is the best.
