When faced with a somewhat last-minute business trip, "affordable" hotel choices were limited. On the website, the Ameritania looked decent, with a good location for my meetings. Upon arriving, I was very fortunate to receive an upgrade to a two-bed room, which I think really changed the vibe of my whole stay, since I was originally booked in a small one-bed. I had ample space to spread out, a desk to work at, a nice bathroom (seriously - one of the best hotel showers I've ever experienced!), and because it faced the interior courtyard (typically ugly NY hi-rise courtyard...reminded me of when I used to live in the city and my bedroom faced a very similar one - ah, nostalgia!), it was relatively quiet, which is what I hoped for! The lobby was clean, the A/C worked well, the bed was comfy (with ample pillows - yay!), there was always water available (and coffee / tea in the AM), the front desk and cleaning folks were nice, and the wifi was reliable.
My only recommendations are to install sheers on the room windows - I could see straight into the rooms across from me, and they could see straight into mine, so I kept the heavy fabric blind down the whole time.
