We checked in with no problems, but later on a group checked in across the hallway and was very, very loud. Clearly here to party, propping open their door and blasting music. Even the chambermaid in the hallway suggested I call the desk.
Then I went downstairs and spoke with the nicest, most professsional person who happily changed our room to a quiet, spacious and beautiful one. I never speak up when things like this happen. We travel often and noise is inevitable, but this was bad. Luis was smiling and pleasant, he really took care of us and saw I wasn't happy. This is hotel and its staff are the consumate professionals and they all deserve a bonus. Luis especially!!! We saw him earlier handle a persistent, tough customer with grace and ease.
Then later we decided to check out the rooftop bar, which is so beautiful. A wonderful smile greeted us again from the friendly bartender who suggested we eat there for dinner, Vintage Green. The hostess, lovely, polite and sincere (and smiling) got us a nice table. Food was yummy and it was a really enjoyable evening. Anna, our server was excellent too. Rooms are well appointed, comfortable, spacious and with an awesome view of The Empire State Building. We will definitely return to NYC and stay here again!
