I selected the hotel because of the expansive panoramic views offered at the hotel being 888 meters above sea level over the Rhine Valley. The hotel had a little bit of a rustic feel. It wasn't luxurious. It was quaint and adorable and had the most spectacular views of our entire 2018 Euro Road Trip. The staff were very friendly and kind, and the restaurant was fabulous.
We were in room no. 1, which had a spectacular balcony that offered breathtaking views. The carpet in the communal areas appeared a bit dated. The room was basic, but clean. There were two twin beds pushed next to each other with mattresses that could not be conjoined and a separate twin bed in the far corner. The walls were partially covered in a light colored wood. The bathroom was clean, but basic. The towels in the bathroom seemed a bit old. The blankets and pillows were perfectly adequate, but old and not very lovely. The largest downfall (for me, at least) was that there was no air condition in our room. We slept with the balcony doors open, but it was still too hot for my liking. The Wifi was free, but only worked in our room and not in the communal areas.
The real treat was the massive balcony with the stunning views looking out over the mountains and down into the valley. I had selected a balcony room with a view, and the view did not disappoint. The view was absolutely incredible and was our favorite from our entire 2018 European road trip.
