Historic Anniversary Getaway
We had a relaxing and comfortable 2-night stay at The Historic Julian Hotel. It was perfectly located in the heart of Julian where we could walk a block to church, Italian food, gift shops and other eateries. Next door for excellent Mexican food. Wish we had more time for more exploring but had to get back home. Definitely, will be back.

Past experiences in the 1800s
Staying in an old hotel was a very special experience. But one thing that is a little inconvenience is that it is an old hotel, so there is no parking lot, so It was difficult to find a free parking spot around the hotel when there were many tourists. However, there is a parking spot when tourists leave.

Sweet getaway
My husband and I just wanted a overnight getaway. We enjoyed our stay and the Gold Rush cottage was perfect. It's right in the middle of town and makes it easy to walk to restaurants and stores.

The ambiance was unique and charming. In the evening, cider and tea were served in the parlor and the tables were set with unique wooden games. We loved the breakfast—complete with homemade granola, eggs Florentine, yogurt, fresh fruit, and incredible toast from a local bakery. The staff were very hospitable—a unique experience you don’t want to miss!

History & Charm
We enjoyed a lovely time at the Gold Rush Hotel soaking up the well-preserved history there. Beautifully decorated with many old photographs to peruse, it truly felt like we were stepping back in time while staying in a sweet little cottage at the back of the property. There are many stairs to navigate while carrying luggage so call ahead with questions if you have mobility issues. The interior was gorgeous and spotless. The A/C worked very well and we had a nice, clean bathroom. We enjoyed the privacy of sitting on our own porch both at dusk while listening to the sound of crickets and at sunrise with a cup of coffee. If walking Main Street with quaint shops, cute cafes and a very old cemetery at the edge of town is your vibe, don’t miss the history & charm of The Gold Rush Hotel.

Best hotel stay !
One of the best hotsl stays we have ever experienced, mainly due to the excellent customer service. The room we stayed in was a little small and cramped for us, so the staff allowed us to switch to a slightly bigger room. In that room, our air conditioner worked, but didnt get as cool as we wanted it, so the staff went out of their way to make sure it cooled down for us. They immediately changed out the air filter and brought us a fan. It was just such a great experience because they took such good care of us !

Quirky but wonderfully historical
Super cute hotel. Amazingly retained so many original features making it very quirky. Don't expect high end luxury, rooms are tiny but that just adds to the charm. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The included breakfast is fabulous, fresh and filling. Beware though everything in the town is closed by 8pm, including bars and restaurants.
